Warmer, funnier, and better than I expected. Solid B+ (maybe A- if I were feeling generous).

Oh man, to each their own, I hated this movie and don't think I made it half way. When she was on her computer addressing the audience and did the British accent and said "govenor". I felt angry and embarrased at the same time. Razz How does a movie accomplish that?

Biutiful - Brilliant! Has there ever been a more depressing film?

Didn't see it.. But Leaving LasVegas was the most depressing to me...I would like to have that two hours back.

Loved Leaving Las Vegas! Agree Vegas is depressing, but Biutiful is at least one Prozac worse.

Oh dear. I didn't realise this movie was going to make me shed, I've wanted to see for ages. I'd say City of God was the most depressing movie I've seen. Mainly due to the truth of it.
HBO has been playing Knight and Day all week. I caught a little bit of it and it was not as horrible as I expected. Maybe I was in the mood for something mindless, but the action scenes were actually pretty good in a silly/unbelievable sort of way. This is the perfect roll for Cruise because he can just play himself. Cameron Diaz is hard to look at and overacts but other than that I was entertained for the 30 mins I watched.

I enjoyed her acting (in the bikini.) Wink

I think it had something to do with him forming relationships with woman. His employer had a line about how he 'used to know better'. I think Thekla Rueten was sexy as well.

Review please!!!! Smile

Well, the storyline included the following, just to name a few... so you get one guess. Wink

Cole Porter
Lautrec
Gauguin
Ernest Hemingway
Scott Fitzgerald
Gertrude Stein
Pablo Picasso
Dali
Man Ray
T.S. Eliot
Matisse

...and Marion Cotillard, as the lover of Hemingway, Picasso and Modigliani. Cool

I didn't think that movie was excellent, but I enjoyed it more than I thought I would -- solid, imo.

I went in expecting little, and enjoyed it overall. You can pick the movie to death, but it's a waste of time to do that. It's entertainment. You enjoy it or you don't with this one. I liked it.

winetarelli, I will also add, Carla Bruni looked wonderful in her small role!

Big Grin

I shall see it soon. Hopefully on the big screen, only because I am anxious to see it -- I suspect it won't loose much if I wind up renting it and watching it on a 50" plasma 9 feet from my face? Or should I really make a point of seeing it in a theatre? I have been told by multiple people it is Allen's best since Manhattan...

I liked it, my wife liked it alot. The message is that nostalgia isn't what it used to be.

For everyone that has not seen it, SPOILER ALERT, thanks to Irwin. Razz

Super 8 refers to a quick loading film stock (8mm wide) that got heavy use among home movie makers a few decades ago. It's what the kids used in the film.

I take it you've never seen a Malick film. Even by his standards, this one was out there!
