I don't quite get the appeal of Hollywood actors playing white trash.

Because these people do exist? Because there are plenty of movies about rich people, their hardships and happy endings? Because Michelle Williams is pretty hot?

I thought the movie was extremely well done.

Indeed.

To each their own. Agreed, well done and well acted, but ...
I found it fairly slow going, and these stories just wind down a miserable, sad, self-destructive path until it ends. I guess this theme was a bit more novel when Halle Berry played in Monster's Ball, or Charlize Theron in Monster, or Charlize Theron (again) in Northern Country. I've got The Fighter and King's Speech on Blu-Ray - maybe one of those will interest me.
Both my son and I enjoyed it. My wife PURPLE didn't. "I just don't get it". So I guess it's in a vein of you either like it or not.

The shock and scare scenes are really good. Especially during the open scene of the movie. Hellacious special effect there. Being raised during the same era I appreciated the 70s setting and references.

It lulls in a few places and grows a bit unbelievable towards the end (even considering it is sci fi fantasy) but overall a pleasurable afternoon.

Last Night.

My first true exposure to Keira Knightley.

(a) What did you think of the movie?

(b) What?! The girl has been in lots of movies, including ones that are 'your type' of movies -- Bend it Like Beckham, Atonement, Pride and Prejudice...

My guess is that she appears nude in the movie and that is what W+A is referring to.

Ah...

If so... must rent... though she has been topless in about half the movies she has done...

Former15, I have only seen Atonement Red Face, but did not think I understood her as an actress for some odd reason, but enjoyed the movie a great deal.

The movie Last Night is a small indie movie, and I just thought she was very transparent in her role.

Sorry for any confusion, and she did not appear nude in the movie. Wink

I don't know what this means.

Battle Los Angeles.

Saw this last night. Much better than I thought it would be, for mindless entertainment.

Some of the dialogue was cheesy, "I need you to be my little marine" Razz but I did enjoy it. I would have preffered watching ruthless soldiers rather than the emotional bunch that made up that group but oh well.

True Grit - disappointing.

Biutiful - Brilliant! Has there ever been a more depressing film?

Didn't see it.. But Leaving LasVegas was the most depressing to me...I would like to have that two hours back.

Loved Leaving Las Vegas! Agree Vegas is depressing, but Biutiful is at least one Prozac worse.
