You bet. I see it too "Charles Shaw Merlot"
The wine cellar featured on the cover of the Nov. 30 issue belongs to Julien LeCraw of Atlanta, GA. Mr. LeCraw and his 25,000 bottle collection were featured in a profile in the Dec. 31, 2005, issue of Wine Spectator. Mr. LeCraw has all the trophy wines you might imagine; he also has a sense of humor, which leads him to spotlight not only Cristal and Yquem, but also "Two Buck Chuck" and Marilyn Merlot in his "wall of fame." We applaud wine lovers who combine passion for great wine with the understanding that wine collecting doesn't have to be too serious or solemn.
Crusher (and others curious as to the identity of the bottle below the Charles Shaw),

That is a bottle of Four Emus, an Australian wine bottled under screw cap and available for $10 to $12. It has also received very good scores from Harvey Steiman. The large-format bottle to its right, with the fire-breathing bear, is Toasted Head, another consistent good value wine, made by R.H. Philips in California. To the left of the large-format Beaucastel, on the bottom shelf, is a bottle of Lucas & Lewellen Queen of Hearts, which is usually priced at about $12.

And I'm sure I haven't spotted all of the value wines on the shelves. Anyone else spot any others?

Smart decision Ania. I opened my dad's cheap gift wine recently out of curiousity... a 1996 Turning Leaf Chardonnay. I don't think I suffered any dain bramage, though.

I have a bottle or "Cheap Red Wine" (that's the name on the label!) & Boone's Farm on display in my cellar! Both were gifts, but I think they probably recieve the most comments by anyone who looks at my cellar.

Years ago my wife gave me a wonderful piece of art that says "Life is too short to drink cheap wine." It sits on one of the racks in my wine room, flanked by a bottle of "Cheap Red Wine" and "Cheap White Wine" that were a gift from my father who loves to tweak me about my wine collection. (He doesn't mind drinking from it when I go home for the holidays however.)

Anyone who can't have a sense of humor about collecting wine just doesn't understand.
