March 2010; what's for dinner

Paprika chicken with olive oil mash potatoes and asparagus in a romesco sauce last night. Nice pairing with the 2000 R. López de Heredia Rioja Reserva Viña Tondonia.

Chicken cacciatore with penne rigate. Finished up the Neal Cab from Sunday night.

Grilled marinated skirt steaks now that I've finally shoveled a path to the grill.

Tacos

Oh, yeah it's March now. Beef Jerky and Strawberries.

Clam chowder and french bread. No wine.

Grilled flank steak.

Grilled bison burgers, mixed green salad with beets and goat cheese. Alas, no wine.

David Burke's, Las Vegas. I've been meaning to try it. Now is the time.

Spaghetti with EVOO, morels, goat butter, pesto and pine nuts.

penne, spicy sausages and broccoli.

Tuesday – Made chicken tacos and mexican rice with homemade salsa and tortilla chips.

Last night – Mrs. Glennk made spaghetti carbonara.

Made tacos last night. Fish and rock shrimp. No wine with dinner, but I sipped on a 2007 Taz Pinot Noir Cuyama River before and after.

Pork Loin Roast with roasted apples and onions served with lentils with bacon and apple cider reduction and braised cabbage. Usually not a big roast fan (other than prime rib) but this combo worked perfectly.

Last night: Shredded roasted chicken tossed in a mixed green salad with a red wine vinaigrette. Served with a little garlic bread and a nice 07 Soave that Mrs. Glennk brought home from the store.

Went out to our favorite Portuguese restaurant last evening:

Appetizers:
Grilled Calamari with pink peppercorn and citrus salsa
Fresh Cod Balls with sweet pepper jam
Portuguese Mussels

Main Course:
Bouillabaisse with scallops, monkfish, giant clam, shrimps and cod in a
tomato and saffron broth

Sounds great KCS02!!!

We went Vietnamese last night and I had a seafood pho. Water with dinner, but a Beringer Merlot back home while grading essays.

Going to an upscale (read "expensive") Greek restaurant for a birthday celebration tonight. I'm not expecting too much in the way of wine, though Greece has finally emerged from the Dark Ages of wine technology.

Local butcher had some spinach, fontina and roasted garlic chicken sausages so I'm gonna grill them up tonight.

This place had excellent fish and appetizers, but was way overpriced. The grilled stuffed kalamari was excellent.

Saturday night - baked rigatoni "casserole" with chicken, ricotta and provolone. DnVsMom loved it, while I thought it was good, but not necessarily worth the time and effort. 2006 St. Clement Merlot Abbott's Vineyard.

Last night - grilled baby backs, red beans and rice and cole slaw. 2006 Sbragia Family Zinfandel Gino's Vineyard.
