Donny wants a job in Miami. No State tax, and no L.A. Peeps
You guys can have him. No matter what happens this year, I'm ready to move on. Not sure I follow the LA peeps comment? Isn't Miami the city most like LA in the country?

i disagree

dodgers are one of the heaviest subscribers of money ball.

i'm almost positive the dodgers had some stats showing how kershaw does shitty with bases loaded into the 7th inning facing a right handed batter at 11pm in 65 degree temperature with the wind blowing lightly.

life as a cubs fan doesnt get much better than that game last night! what a showing.

is this the year?

In the 1989 movie, "Back to the Future 2" there is made the prediction that the Cubs would win the World Series in 2015. Thus, it is likely.
On the other hand, the movie predicted that the Cubs would sweep in 5 games and you can't do that in a best of 7 series.
Rooting for the Dodgers tonight because I like Kershaw and want to see him get this monkey off his back. Plus that series going 5 will give the Cubs some time off to realign their pitching.

Cubs probably would have a better chance against the Dodgers with Greinke having to go game 5, but I want the Mets. Amazing (and yes I used that word on purpose) how I can still feel the sting of the Mets overtaking the Cubs in 1969 and breaking this 8 year old's (at the time) heart.

Hey Hey Holy Mackarel
Nice game by Kershaw last night to bring game 5 back to LA. Hopefully all this Kershaw is the new Payton Manning (great in the regular season, terrible in the playoffs) stuff can end now. Out of his last 8 postseason starts, he has had 2 stinkers, 4 great games and 2 so-so games (so-so for him, very very good for most other pitchers). He could easily be 6-2 in those 8 starts if he had run support or a couple of bounces go his way. In 4 of his losses in the last 3 years the Dodgers scored a combined 3 runs in those games but nobody talks about that. Pretty silly stuff.

Very happy for my friends that are Cubs fans. That would have been a great game to attend.

you have to look at the corollary

teams line up their best pitchers against kershaw so it's typically a pitchers duel.

in that instance, it really is the best pitcher that wins.

i'd say that it's acutally a fair statement.

maybe i'm looking at it wrong

but it says according to baseball reference

http://www.baseball-reference....rs/k/kershcl01.shtml

his era in the losses were 4.5, 9.45, 6.30, 7.82

he's got a noticeable tendency to get rocked after 6 innings if his pitch count is high.

ie why mattingly pulled him in game 1 after 120 pitches in the 7th with runners on base
I know what you guys are saying, but I think he is being held somewhat to an unrealistic standard. It's part his own doing because he has been so fantastic over the last 5 years. It's just seems more something for the baseball talking heads to talk about then any real story. If the Dodgers score 2 runs in 2 of those 4 games, Kersh has a few more wins and nobody would be talking about this.

That's cumulative including those 2 stinkers against the cards that I talked about. I was talking game by game. Even in the regular season he is good for a couple of games like that every so often. The 7th inning has been his issue for sure in the playoffs besides that one game he got lit up by the cards as was out in the 4th inning.

except his WHIP has never been great in the post season.
(sorry, "not great" is relative to pitchers of his caliber)
those runs on literally on him
I'm just saying I think he has gotten a bad rap and the press of him "struggling" in the playoffs is overblown. Let's really break down those last 8 starts.

In 2 of them he has gotten rocked by the Cards. 15 runs in 10 innings. No excuses just bad games. 0-2 in those starts and struggling no doubt. Cards seem to have his number.

In 2 games he as been so-so. ERA of 4 in 12 innings with 20 k's, 8 hits and 6 walks. One of those games was the first game against the Mets this year where I don't think he should have been taken out and the bullpen cost him 2 of those earned runs and the loss. David Wright said after the game that he was happy and shocked when he saw Kersh was getting taken out. In these games he is 0-2 but could have been better with a little run support. Struggling? I wouldn't call it that.

In 4 games he was over the top dominate with a 0.69 ERA, 26 innings, 31 k's, 11 hits and 6 walks. In those starts he is 2-1 with a ND. Should have been 4-0. Struggling, no.
The same thing was said in Johan Santana dominant season w the Mets

He was so dominating the Mets didn't bother to bat

Happens but you could always use the "if he had more run support"

Let's not forget e t kerch is top three highest paid pitcher. I'd expect him to carry games when the runs are low. His record shows that he's not necessarily a lock to just straight out win a game for the top three pitcher in all of baseball

Couldn't disagree more. If the technology is there to improve the game, why not.

A lot of people (myself included) are turned off by the arbitrary nature of balls and strikes behind the plate, 'unwritten rules', and the like which make baseball seem antiquated.
