Soon the Earth will be reborn and the national pastime will return.

In the AL East, only Boston has improved. The Yankees, Orioles, and Rays are weaker, and the Blue Jays appear to be about the same. Now that Yoan Moncada is available, I'm hoping the Yankees get him. Runs will be scarce, starting pitching a huge questionmark. The back end of the bullpen is solid. This could be Icewino's year.

Can't wait for the season to start. Dodgers should be tough again this year with that pitching staff. Offensive has taken some blows losing Hanley and trading Kemp (who was probably the best hitter in baseball in the 2nd half last season). Excited to see what the new up the middle trio will do as well as another season for Puig. Big year for him.

The Marlins could make the summer interesting if Jose Fernandez can come back like himself in the middle of the year. Im really looking forward to seeing how their very young and very good outfield develops.

Yes, I like the moves the Marlins made and think they can compete for the wildcard if they stay close early and then Fernandez comes back and performs as he did prior to surgery. Might have to visit Miami a couple of times Smile

Still hesitant to jump in with two feet and embrace the team...but as long as Tampa has an AL team, the Marlins will remain my team.

Looking forward to this season.

Pretty good? That is a massive understatement. That's like saying a 1982 Margaux is an okay wine.

Haha! I had the exact same thought. Their lineup looks amazing...or brutal, depending from which side of the park you're looking!

The beleaguered Mariners should actually have a decent season. Nelson Cruz will help, even if he takes a (likely) step backward. Considering what junk he's replacing (Smoak), anything will be an improvement. I'm glad we locked up Kyle Seager for the long-term. Having missed the playoffs last year by one game, M's fans are cautiously optimistic.

If he remains healthy, Morse will be a great addition to the Marlins. He was great on and off the field as well as in the clubhouse with the Giants last year. Great pick up by the Marlins.
I hope to see the Red Sox and Cubs at the end this year. Boston looks like they're going to start the season without an ace and maybe pick one up in a mid season trade if things are going well (I hope). The line up is looking good top to bottom even if lacking a superstar in their prime. Hopefully Ortiz remember to take his, um, vitamin supplements.
The Mets are 1 year away but moving closer. Pitching staff could become top 5 in MLB when Syndegaard joins Harvey and Wheeler and the pipeline is jammed with 3 more pitching studs who could be used as trade bait to bolster the line up or replace Niese and Gee. Cubs may be a natural trade partner.

You can win with a stud staff and mediocre hitting. Formula worked in '69, '73, and instrumental in 86, before the PED era.

Washington sports fans are prone to hyperbole during the off season. Just trying to temper my expectations for this season. Should be a good one.

Agree, but what does it say about a pitching staff when the guy who went 15-10 with a 2.85 ERA and a 1.09 WHIP will probably be the long man in the pen because he probably is the 6th best starter.

This only works if ALL the umpires call the same strike zone but the umpires seem to each have their own strike zone so how do they make this work? A smaller strike zone may actually lengthen a game they are trying to speed up time of play.

In the late '60's, they lowered the mound to increase offense. This change would affect every pitcher the same way instead of having the umpires each having their own strike zone. Really tired of hearing pre-game analysis of what kind of strike zone each umpire calls instead of the strike zone in the rule book.

Baseball has been making a concerted effort over the last couple of years to get umpires to be uniform and consistent. However, if you ever tried to stand behind the catcher and figure out where the ball crossed the plate, you will realize that it is harder than it looks. The real problem is that players don't get the big contract for hitting for average, all that matters is home runs and OBP. Players like Tony Gwynn etc wouldn't be the ones that would get the huge deals anymore, much to the detriment of the game.

The Braves finally figured out a way to get rid of BJ (excuse me, Melvin) Upton and his big contract. That is by packaging him with their best player, closer Craig Kimbrel. Hopefully, the $30 million they will be free of next season will allow them to rebuild. This season will be last place.

Soooooooooooooo disappointed in losing Kimbrel. There is no reason to watch this team for the next two years.
