Tampa, on 3/24 we lost our Palm Steakhouse.

Wasn't a surprise, could feel it coming for months if not years. Could have been fixed with commitment and investment from Corp. along with the right management team. Lost our go-to, "cheers' spot and some great service professionals lost their jobs.

We'll all survive…eat drink and be merry and find our respective next.

Just read that Hot Doug's in Chicago is closing October 3.

Too much hype and hooey. Just give a good Chicago hot dog joint any day.

I don't know about that. The sauternes-infused duck sausage with the foie gras and duck fat fries were pretty spectacular. And they probably made my favorite Chicago-style dog too. I loved the place and am sad to see it go.

The owners apparently said they were tired of running a restauarant and wanted to do something else.

Foie gras! Thank God I live in a state that protects us from overfeeding geese. Frown

Had been there a dozen times. I hope Frank Ruta re-surfaces somewhere nearby. Soon.

This was a major loss. One of the very best restaurants in DC, or for that matter, anywhere else. Here's hoping Frank Ruta shows up somewhere else that I can get to.

Have you been to Dean Gold's new place yet?

Not yet. He got a nice write-up in the Washington Post last week.
