Spoto's?

Spotos is still open.

John phased out the steak house and opened Water Grill. Changed the decor from a nice steak house to a modern glass oriented higher end sea food resturant. Changed the inside bar a bit to be more comfortable. Still a limited wine list.

Like stupid as he has a sea food resturant only 200 yards away. So he competes against himself. Crazy
Zen Garden near me in Mill Creek. This place had been around for years, but I just hadn't gotten around to trying it. Authentic dim sum served from 10am to 3pm. I finally tried it a couple months ago and was totally blown away by how good it was. (My family were also the only caucasians in the place, so I thought it had to be popular with the local Asian community.) The food was so good, I came back a week later for more. Then, two weeks after that, I drove by and the place was shut down!! Frown
Not a restaurant, but apparently the majority of Caribou Coffee locations in the Chicago area will be closing this coming weekend. Some will remain open, and some will be re-branded as Peet's. I'm a little sad for the folks losing their jobs. There are a couple of locatons I visit on a regular basis and the employees have been very friendly.

Kensington Grill. Mixed feelings as we had some great and some mediocre meals there. The owners (Urban Kitchen Group) are planning a new operation there - hopefully better.

They did have a rep for inconsistency. Can't remember if I ate there or not. Hey, I am still mad about Chive.

This is a major bummer. Used to live in Lincoln Park and always loved the vibe and coffee of Caribou. Wife is from Omaha and they do still have a few outposts there.

Sad to see these guys not make the cut

More good, new spots opening than closing in Austin these days, however we live by the lake and the ongoing drought has taken the water levels so low several lakeside restaurants have closed. The food was "acceptable" but you went for the fantastic views and drinks more than anything. Sad Frown

Then it's time to head out to the Salt Lick.

Indeed, or to Franklin BBQ which is quickly winning me over in terms of the "best".

Four hour long lines.
I would love to try Franklin BBQ, but I would never wait for any restaurant for more than 10-20 mins. 4 hours is just crazy.

Let me know if you're in these parts GlennK and I'll see what I can do to help with an "express pass"...

I agree.

I think Nolan waited 3-4 hours.

Grumpy Grouper in Lantana. Always busy but a dispute over rent with the landlord forced them out. I'm really going to miss that place! Best broiled fish I've ever had.

You may still be in luck. They opened a second location in Lake Park.

1/2 hour drive. I'll go

Where in Lake park?

There are many changes here on PGA, openings, under new management and closings are rampant. Tis the season to get the money from the snowbirds. If you don't make it in next 4 months, you are doomed.
