Ok, hi I'm new, and have a question...I have a bottle of wine from a vacation my husband and I took 1 year ago in New Mexico. The wine is from the Pistachio Tree Ranch, and it is labeled on the website as a semi-sweet with pistachio finish. What would be a good light late night snack to have with this, I usually get home at appx. 12am and need a little something to eat before bed. The flavor I would describe as being sweet but a bit sour (in a good way). Thanks for the advice!! PS. I'm looking for something easy like a bagel, toast, grilled cheese, pb&j, deli style sandwich, etc.

It's difficult to know where to begin. There's very little information available about the bottle you have. I did discover that it's described on the label as "New Mexico Grape Wine with natural pistachio flavor and caramel color added."

Although one fellow described it in his blog as "interesting" after a night of spicy Indian food, another site devoted to the cuisine of New Mexico simply said it was "odd." To each his own, of course, and if you like it, that's all that really matters.

I didn't find anything about the alcohol content, but I suspect from the description that it's probably in the 12 to 14% category. If so, it won't last too long once it's opened, maybe a week or so.

As for what to eat with it, pistachios seem to be an obvious choice. Since it's sweet, it might be good with cookies -- Trader Joe's sells an awesome pistachio cookie.

I'd suggest following any wine made out of nuts with a healthy shot of syrup of Epicac.
The wine itself is made from grapes, but they add some pistachio flavor to it. the slight sour flavor tastes a bit like a pistachio (go figure). I made a grilled cheese sandwich the other night out of chipotle cheddar cheese, and I thought the spice of the cheese went well with the sweet from the wine. The bottle is finished now, and I think if I buy another I'd let it age a bit longer just to see how the flavor changes (if at all).
