Leth St. Laurent Reserve 2004

I just had a bottle of Leth St. laurent Reserve 2004last night. It's the first time any Austrian wine has turned up in my wine shop.

Although I've had a few Austrian reds in the past while visiting Vienna, I hadn't any St Laurent wine.

The wine was great. A rich fruity flavour with a mellow finish.

I'm curious now about wine from this grape. Is the 2004 likely to age well or should I enjoy it now?

Glad to hear you enjoyed it and I certainly would pick up any Austrian varietal bottling of St. Laurent I came across just for the experience.

My only real exposure to the grape so far is its use in Leo Hilinger's Small Hill blended red, which is a tasty "house red" I pick up occasionally for weeknight use. That wine is 25% St. Laurent. I believe Hilinger also makes a varietal St. Laurent but I have never seen it.
