Very dark and deep purple color. Smells like a Bordeaux, clean and smoky. This is a subtle yet stunning Malbec. There is minerality present, but also a nice roast coffee flavor. Lovely dark blackberry fruit is present and in complimentary proportion to the other flavors. The wine itself has a great smooth texture and mouthfeel. There is even an awesome acidic, fuel-like, sweet and sour fruit finish.
I noticed the longer this wine was open, the more acidic it seemed. I had a few pieces of cheese and it brought right back in. Since a majority of you like wine with your food this should not be a problem. I think this Cahors is nice as a stand alone or with food.
