LCBO Vintages Classics July & August

July & August Classics catalogue HERE.

Armand Rousseau Grand Cru are back.  Don Melchor, which used to be (a long time ago) good deals at LCBO compared to US market are now even more absurdly priced at $130 for the 2014.

CSM, I stopped looking after the second page. 2009 L. Poyferre for $627 - WTF?

And then you go to the Auction and ask them about putting wines like that in and they tell you "Oh NO, those aren't worth that!". It was comical when I looked at putting in three bottles of Fort de Latour right after one of the special releases and they wanted to say that the value was half of what it was through the LCBO a month or so before...

That's far more a Concha y Toro issue than the LCBO. I saw the 2014 DM south of the border last weekend for $89.99 and WS low is $80. After exchange rate and sales tax the LCBO price isn't that outrageous. DM was an excellent $50 bottle of wine. I don't even consider buying it anymore.

If you want an example of outrageous LCBO pricing, consider the 2010 Contino Gran Reserva. $72?? It is/was $40 here.

As for the rest of the offerings. Might have to try and get some Chiquet. Never see it here.

Haven't peeked here for a bit...geez does this still look like this?  Looking at the forum is worse than the 8:30 a.m. battle for bottles, followed by LCBO website glitches-a-plenty that will probably have me getting a call in a few weeks telling me that the order that I was eventually able to put through and pay for was entirely illusory...
