How hot was it really (relatively speaking)? The few reports I've read was that it wasn't as hot as 2009 but no sense in comparing vs a hot vintage to begin with.
The total amount of days during which temperatures were over 10 °C before 30 June is a good indicator of early or late vine growth. This total was 629 °C in 2010, compared with 831 °C in 2003 and 785 °C in 2007.

Cool. I know that will be the basis of another great offline.
Maybe a Rhone offline doing "the whole beast" (boar) at Beast? Just throwing it out there...![]()

Tried the Ash Hollow last night. Great northern Rhone-ish nose of iodine, black olives and game meat. But the Rhone comparison ends there, IMO, as I found the Ash Hollow heavier and more viscous than most N. Rhones I've tried. All in all though, great QPR at $28. I will let the other bottles I have sleep for a few years as I'd like to see how this might develop.

Yeah, I just saw this, BUT, is this going to be another monster fruit bomb in the style that Parker (but not some of the rest of us) likes so much?

Probably, being 15% alcohol. I'm passing. Donjon was 14% and Bosquet des Papes was reported between 13.5% - 14.5%.

Thanks! I kind of figured that, but appreciate the feeback from those with more CdP experience. I think I lean more towards the traditional styles. The search for older bottles continues.... Cheers,

If you read this story in The Star, it lists other outlets that will have the wine. I'd suggest calling the store to determine when the beer will be released and get in line well before the store opens.

There's a nice 4x750mL pack of Beaus for $24 out right now that might be a suitable QPR substitute for the holiday.

Has anyone noticed that Chateau Pipeau 2010 has already been on store shelves for a few weeks now? It's now a vintages essential. Seems strange to me that a reputable 2010 is already out, but I guess with an early drinking wine like that they push it down the pipeline quickly.

Ok, this is off topic, and an availability alert, and yes it's south of the boarder, but given the 24 or 36 bottle allotments in classics, here:
2009 DRC Richebourg only $1498 USD
