2017 Zenato Amarone
One of the most consistent wines vintage-to-vintage there is, but really good vintage for this. Wide open after a 2 hour decant.
Fun night last night:
2009 Château de Fosse-Seche Saumur Rouge Eolithe - not normally a big fan of straight Cab Franc and Loire Reds generally but this one was great. Maybe due to the age. 2% Cab Sauv also. Been sitting in one of our Eurocaves for 10 years
Also
2019 Podere Il Carnasciale 'Ottantadue' Valdarno di Sopra Sangiovese - very light wine. Perhaps a bit overpriced (but friends brought it so no worries) - went very well with our Mutton Snapper with Greek salad and roasted zucchini with tahini
2000 Pichon Baron- smooth with tannins still prominent. Just enetring drinking window. 95+
the 2000s have defintiely been drinking well. had the fortunate to try a 2000 angelus and ausone. both stunning
2022 Chateau Pradeaux Rosé
I’ve had it all. And yet year-in, year-out, when it comes to still rosé, Pradeaux is what I always come home to. 2022 is absolutely no exception. This year is slightly less wine-y/yeasty with a combination of bright strawberry and tangerine zest. Minuscule, but detectable, RS. Like a Merry Edwards SB, I would never serve this at a wine tasting; it isn’t that type of wine. It’s just yummy. Consumed with soft-ripened goat cheese and rosemary olive bread. All it lacked was a view of the Mediterranean.
Avinyo Merlot. We are celebrating with wife my promotion today and dreaming about all those places we gonna visit in the next couple of years. From now on, I will have much more free time by using these services https://translationreport.com/...translation-services and a personal assistant, plus I can work from home most of my time. Still can't put my head around those great news!
Giuliano Rosati Montepulciano D’Abruzzo 2021
good QPR. Very drinkable. Consuming with eggplant Parmesan.
Fun dinner last night with jcubed, Dan and our better halves. A toss-up for me between the two fully mature Pegau for WOTN. Both were so enjoyable that I actually preferred them on their own as opposed to with food. The two 2010’s are very good but still showed quite young. Both improved with food IMO.
How cool, billhike.
Fortuitously, I still have one '95 Pegau, and have been reluctant to open it for fear of it being over the hill. Glad to hear yours was good. I won't wait too long for opening mine after we get home.

Looks like an awesome night, billhike! Thanks for sharing!
My night was less interesting, but still enjoyed a 2018 Pibarnon.

Thanks for setting this up Bill. It was a fun night. All the wines were great. I agree that the two Cuvee Laurence were better enjoyed without food.

I just popped the 2009 Petrolo
lovely lush wine!
2018 JL Chave Selection Circa Blanc - always punches above its weight and this time was no different.

The past couple weeks:
2010 Windy Oaks Estate Pinot Noir Proprietor's Reserve Schultze Family Vineyard - Delicious
2017 Château Lynch-Bages Blanc de Lynch-Bages - Surprisingly boring.
2010 La Rioja Alta Rioja Viña Ardanza Reserva Selección Especial - Father's Day vino with beef filet. Fantastic.
2016 Lafon Rochet
I’ve found a lot of the good “lesser” Bordeaux from 2016 are already singing with a 2 hour decant. This will only get better, but it was lovely with a Costco rib cap.
chateau Les Millaux 2020 Gifted SWILL!
2017 No Girls Double Lucky. Syrah, cab and Tempranillo. This was awful. So much Brett and funk. 3+ hours in the decanter didn’t help it. So disappointing.
2021 Scar Of The Sea Pinot Noir Bassi Vineyard
I’ll post more on this winery later. But @ $38.99 this is just about the most expensive wine they make. Also, this winery strikes me as the real deal. Even their base San Louis Obispo Pinot at $29.99 is excellent. And a ridiculous QPR.
2010 Match Baconbrook
2018 Giacosa Fratelli Nebbiolo d'Alba
2007 Weinbach Gewuztraminer Altenbourg.
Yummy. Yummy. I can’t keep my hands off Alsatian wines when they’re young. But the good ones really do improve with age. Maybe not the most sophisticated wine in the world, but this was genuinely a hedonistic delight and went great with take-out Chinese food.
First time I read this I thought you said “I can’t keep my hands off Alsatian wives when they are young.”
i guess my mind works that way sometimes.

I mean. A young Alsatian wife might also be nice…
2011 Nicola I Sodi igt castellare di Castellina ( very nice and ready to go)
2010 Querce Bettina bdm
2018 Jean-Claude Bessin Chablis La Foret white
2017 Foundi estate Xinomavro (outstanding) 🍷
2020 Château Revelette 🌹
2017 A&P de Villaine cote châlonnaise Les Didoines 🍷
1970 La Alta Rioja Gran Reserva 904 (past due but quaffable nonetheless) 🍷
2020 Pegau. Can’t keep my hands off this. I assumed it would be shutting down at this point, but thankfully it hasn’t (yet?). IMO, the best vintage since 2016.
2006 Ch. Beaucastel
2016 Sagemoor Cab Stars in a Row
Quinta do Carvallo 30 Year Tawny
Quinta do Noval Tawny (although was more ruby in color)
