Celebrating our anniversary last night we went to The Prime Rib, an outstanding, if sort of old and stuffy, restaurant in Baltimore. Waiters with tuxedos (and masks). We split a caesar salad-split Brussels sprouts- My wife had a pork chop which was excellent (I got a taste). I had steak au poivre, which was very good. Cooked perfectly and served with a roasted head of garlic and shaved raw horseradish.
She started with a pomegranate margarita. I started with a glass of Veuve Cliquot and then switched to a 2014 Rioja Reserva. Can’t tell you what label. Restaurant is pretty dark, and I forgot my reading glasses.
At another table a youngish couple. He had a massive slab of red meat. Drinking a white wine. I thought about calling 911 on him but resisted. His female companion, dressed nicely with a good amount of skin showing, had numerous tattoos including lots of numbers and letters. She looked like a telephone book and was only marginally more shapely.

Thanks for the smile, and congratulations!
Wild sockeye salmon rubbed with Moroccan spices, atop a bed of chana with black chickpeas, tamarind and sweet potato. Paired with a 2013 Kerner Kabinett from Pfalz, Germany. The salmon was previously frozen. Fresh wild salmon has made a few brief appearances here in San Diego this month, but seems elusive compared to other years. I will wait for the price to drop below $30/lb before sampling.
a lot of sushi
Ate with some friends at a local Italian place. Good to see people after a year and a half or so. My wife and I split a roasted beet appy, and she had a decidedly non-Italian salad with salmon on top, while I had eggplant parmesan. Mostly about the company. We had a bottle of a Banfi Chianti Classico, 2018.
It was a simple grilled burger night, but with friends dining in our home for the first time in 16 months.

I've been there. One of my favorite stuffy, old places.

Slipped down to Florida for the weekend . Ate last night with Board-o and his wife at one of their favorite French places. We
had a Billecart-salmon rose champagne to start. Board-o generously brought a 2009 premier cru Nuits St. George’s, from Jerome Chezeaux which was still young tasting. He had decanted it at home for few hours and then restored it to the bottle. It was an outstanding bottle. Full of the silky smoothness I associate with Burgundies and it had the most beautiful nose.
Grilling some wagyu burgers for Father's Day.
pork chops in a sherry pan sauce with black morels.
