2006 Joseph Bock Villany Capella -- Hungarian Cabernet Sauvignon- Merlot blend, very dark, rich but slightly tart fruit, dark cherry, berry, lots of vanilla oak, good acidity, medium-long finish, around 89 pts.

Don't remember the name of it, but I've had some excellent pilsner styled beer here in Hungary, light bodied and just perfectly bitter to accompany food

I think Chenin Blanc ages as well as any wine.

We had a '49 Huet Le Haut Lieu with a cheese plate on our visit to Mont-St. Michel. The wine was simply brilliant, as was Mont-St. Michel. Cool

You drink well!

Coming from you Board-O, that is a tremendous compliment. The Salon was a gift from my very generous godparents. Champagne and California Cabs, Syrah, and Grenache have always been my favorite. I love French Bordeaux and Burgundy, which is my godfamily's favorites, but outside of some Latour, I have not really purchased very much, as I have found that my dollar can go quite a bit further sticking to some excellent domestic producers. But yesterday was a very fun day... My gf was feeling much better from her surgery, our home has a tremendous view of the golden gate bridge where we saw the fireworks, and we drank some excellent champagne. Hope you and everyone else had a great holiday.

How was it? The 2006 is stunning!

This was the second bottle I consumed with Dave S. I like the blend of this wine, being multi dimensional with ample fruit. However there is not much of a lengthy finish, so it left me wanting more.
1989 Heidsieck Diamant Bleu Monopole Champagne: Drank this from 1.5 over July 4th and 5th. Heard some negative opinions about this vintage from this producer. Most opinions have been that this wine is either sliding downhill or already at the bottom. This bottle was sourced from Garagiste and I believe to be the reason it showed so well. This wine was very much alive upon opening and remained that way on day two. Nice beading on day 1 with an array of flavors that consisted of citrus on the front end that transformed to a sweetness that reminded me of ripe apples that led to a nutty finish. The apple/nutty flavor seemed to be more prominant as the wine warmed up a couple degrees from cellar temperature. Day 2 had the same flavors as day 1 with the only exception being the wine didn't bead as well. Great Champagne 92pts from me.
