I'm thinking perhaps seeking out 1.5's in lieu of .750's. Razz

I may need to change our restaurant as well.

Have you tried the '09 Pommard?

VanCity,

I have not. This was recommended to me by Nick at LCBO on Dundas in Mississauga as I was looking for an inexpensive pinot to have with salmon. It did the job for $18 it was nice QPR.

How was the Scarrone Vigna Vecchia? I picked up two bottles a couple weeks ago.

Futronic, it was the best barbera that I've ever had. It was very rich unlike most I've had. It was very well intergrated, but had the structure to last a decade.

I have a couple that are waiting for me.

Appreciate the feedback...

tba - this was one of my bottle that i took and thought it was drinking really nice. pop and pour and could have used some air. if it wasn't for the other bottles that night, i think it would have received more love.
it had very nice balance between fruit and acid and didn't detect much of alch. not as complex as i hoped but it was a very nice bottle. drink now or hold for few more years?

Thanks. If you're looking for a Barbera with similar and texture, try Rocche dei Manzoni's Barbera d'Alba Sorito Mosconi. While the age of the vines are not as old as the Scarrone VV (50-60 years versus 70-80, if I recall), it's still quite an opulent wine - and one that should be easier to find than Vietti's, since there's only about 3600 bottles of the latter produced annually.

Thank you. I will have to look for it. I have two more of the Vietti coming in the fall, but I will look for the other for a comparison.

How did you like Trattoria San Giacomo? I hope you enjoyed it as much as we did. Where did you stay?

Board-O, the food was wonderful. We walked up for dinner and had a long wait. Figured it was worth it when several people were hanging around on sitting on pillows. We stayed at the Hotel Metropole Bellagio and had a wonderful corner room that had a balcony over the water and the square. It was a beautiful town a place I would visit again in a heartbeat.
