Well..............I just got back from visiting my 95 year old dad in southern Brazil, and we took a two hour road trip to the "Valley of the Vineyards" for a four-day wine and gastronomically enjoyable side trip. My wife and I did some wine tasting and we brought 24 bottles back to L.A. in two suitcases. So, we're drinking some wines most people on this forum don't get a chance to drink. We drank Marselan (hybrid grape from Cabernet Sauvignon and Grenache), Arinarnoa (Cabernet Sauvignon and Tannat), Teroldego, Sangiovese (that drinks like a hearty Chianti), Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Malbec, Lagrein, Chardonnay, Syrah, and Tannat. Among the bottles were some Rhone blends (Cab Sauv/Cab Franc/Merlot) ranging between 14-15% alcohol, and some other interesting blends. A vineyard run by a family whose ancestors came from the Veneto region of Italy, makes an Amarone style wine using three local grapes. Awesome!!! Total cost for 24 bottles of some premium wines? $664.00, or an average of $27.68 per bottle. I might regret my posting of this nice wine experience here, because I want WS to keep ignoring my home state and it's small wine production, so prices stay low and the bargains abound. :-)
