Everything showed well. Hard to pick a WOTN, but it might have been the Pavie Macquin which surprised me after a really poor showing of this wine in August with some of the Chicago group. This bottle was excellent, which gives me hope for my last bottle. The Pavots was outstanding also. My least favourite red was the Chaupin.

All wines showed well but the Chaupin cdp Janasse and the Pavie Macquin were my favourites. The pavots showed structure but I felt a bit disjointed since it was too young but I’m very honoured and grateful bman brought the bottle.

Australian shiraz is out of style, so I've been ignoring it in my cellar for the last few years. Last night I opened my last bottle of 2001 Craneford Barossa Shiraz. Despite Cellartracker's advice that the drinking window had expired in 2007, it was really quite good. Deep ruby colour with no bricking. Deep dark fruit flavours with a bit of leather and no perceived tannin but still well-structured.
So tonight I opened up a 1998 Clarendon Hills Piggott Range Shiraz. Again, there is no visible sign of aging other than substantial sediment. But the wine has a lovely spiciness with a Rhone-style flavour profile. According to CT, it's drinking window expired in 2016.

Thoughts? I've almost bought a bottle a couple of times but went instead with cheaper Bedrock bottles I've tried before and liked.

This was good from the pop and pour. This isn't a bottling I ever buy with my order, I would consider it going forward. Nice cherry notes and soft tannins.
last night at Le Select
2002 Pol Roger Vintage Brut, stunning
2010 Il Carbonaione, big, ripe, dark, intense, grippy tannins but smooth. Drinking well with plenty of air but this has a long, long way to go.
2007 Tawse Quarry Rd Barrel Fermented Chardonnay Icewine. Amazing. This showed the typical tropical fruit mix and has developed some tertiary note but without going too far towards caramel or into rancio. A great balance of youthful fruit and complexity that comes with age. Yum.

2015 Rotie Cellars Northern Blend
2006 Lopez de Herdia Vina Bosconia - gamy and savory with strawberry but I think a little extra time would smooth this a bit.
2015 Forgeron Cellars Chardonnay
2015 Tranch Pape Blanc - nice, sister winery of Corliss and I enjoy these domestic whites made in the Rhone style. Best wine I have had from Corliss.
Well..............I just got back from visiting my 95 year old dad in southern Brazil, and we took a two hour road trip to the "Valley of the Vineyards" for a four-day wine and gastronomically enjoyable side trip. My wife and I did some wine tasting and we brought 24 bottles back to L.A. in two suitcases. So, we're drinking some wines most people on this forum don't get a chance to drink. We drank Marselan (hybrid grape from Cabernet Sauvignon and Grenache), Arinarnoa (Cabernet Sauvignon and Tannat), Teroldego, Sangiovese (that drinks like a hearty Chianti), Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Malbec, Lagrein, Chardonnay, Syrah, and Tannat. Among the bottles were some Rhone blends (Cab Sauv/Cab Franc/Merlot) ranging between 14-15% alcohol, and some other interesting blends. A vineyard run by a family whose ancestors came from the Veneto region of Italy, makes an Amarone style wine using three local grapes. Awesome!!! Total cost for 24 bottles of some premium wines? $664.00, or an average of $27.68 per bottle. I might regret my posting of this nice wine experience here, because I want WS to keep ignoring my home state and it's small wine production, so prices stay low and the bargains abound. :-)

Great. Started off with notes of honey, orange marmalade and caramel notes finally treacle with a dry finish. We had it with Fois Gras stuffed Ravioli in a Mushroom Cream sauce - great pairing. Only criticism was that it should have been filtered after opening. Given the age of the cork (Estimated to be early 1900s) the crumbled cork made things a bit cloudy. Overall, it was a very cool experience to enjoy something that had spent about 100 yrs in cask and another 100 in the bottle.
