I stop at $200 with this wine. It's worth every penny at that price, IMO, but that is my mental self-imposed 'cap' with this wine. If they're North of that (and I would suppose that they are once past '01, than there is no positive use poking my head in that bucket of temptation. But I thank you for offering to share. Smile

A wine you clearly will never be buying again. Wink

I sincerely have no doubts about that. I loved those that I did have. A superb wine.

w-s does show the '97 available at $245 and under $300 for '93, '96 and '99. I could be tempted to bite at some of those. Once you hit 2000 prices got silly, IMHO

I'm really not a fan of this wine but I couldn't resist the 50% discount. I sure hope I appreciate the QPR on this one.

Interesting, I saw a '93 recently on sale for $120, but did not buy due to provenance concerns, and I do enjoy this Cabernet a great deal.

Good luck, I hope the bottle shows well.

The tasting notes on Cellartracker don't seem overly enthusiastic and the undercurrent suggests this wine is possibly showing its age. The bottle looks in excellent condition and I was assured it was held in temp-controlled storage, but who really knows. Ultimately, the $80 price closed the deal for me.
Recent purchases in various quantities:

2007 Domaine Ponsot Clos de la Roche Vieilles Vignes
2008 Tenuta dell'Ornellaia Masseto Toscana IGT
1981 R. López de Heredia Rioja Gran Reserva Viña Tondonia
2010 Viñedos Bernabeleva Vinos de Madrid Bernabeleva Garnacha de Viña Bonita
2010 Domaine Robert-Denogent Pouilly-Fuissé La Croix Vieilles Vignes
2010 Mount Eden Vineyards Pinot Noir Estate Bottled

We can certainly remedy that! Cool

Aren't we due for a trip to Kiki's this year?

Indeed. I was talking to KSC02 about that.

Schedule filling up already. We need to book our trip, soon.

Do I hear tradition calling? Devilish
Just did my first order on Cellaraiders (awaiting shipping details Smile):

1979 Diamond Creek Red Rock Terrace (my YOB)
1981 Diamond Creek Volcanic Hill (my wife YOB)
1992 Grgich Hills Cabernet Sauvignon

And a bottle of 1994 Jaboulet Hermitage La Chapelle

I have purchased a few bottles from Cellaraiders over the years. Good service and speedy delivery. With that said, I do not think I have cracked one open yet.

C'mon Nolan. Don't ruin the surprise. Smile
No, my joke is that if you want to try Shafer, you bought the wrong stuff.

ah you were the one that picked off the chapelle i was looking at

if you call the owner up, Ben, he'll let you know what he thinks including where he bought it from.

on the website though he does add description but it's caveat emptor.

A few shtty bottles here and there but mostly good stuff from the stuff i've bought
