Never liked the talk about wind chill. I believe it's being used more and more--I don't remember any talk of it in my youth. That said today it's 71.49F here with the wind chill.

Nope, last time I was up your way that's where I was going. It's still on my weather channel cities list. As an ex-Minnesotan it always amazes me how stinking cold it gets and how thin my blood has become.


I did not realize the connection to MN. Or I killed that brain cell during our last offline. Either way, at these temps, all blood is thin.

People who don't have their heat on in this weather are idiots. Turns out the unit above us hasn't had their heat on (it's an empty unit that the owner has for sale), and we were awoken at 2:30 this morning to our daughter crying because water was pouring down into her bed. Not just there but in about 10 different spots. We now have quite a bit of work ahead of us to get the place back to what it should be.

You should make a claim against your own homeowner's coverage. They will pay you for damage to your place, subject to whatever deductible you may have, and will go after the upstairs tenant to recoup their money. If they are successful, you'll get the deductible back.

That's what we're doing...making claims through the association's master policy, as well as going through our own homeowner's policy. It's certainly not a fun process, and definitely not fun to lay out the money to get these repairs made without knowing how it will all play out.

That being said...what is a "public adjuster"? We had an adjuster (if that's the right term) from both our own insurance company as well as our association's insurance company, so I'm not sure what a public adjuster would be.
