turned out we had about 7 inches at the house, but it hit last night at the evening rush hour, causing many issues with commuting. I left my office a bit early, so I had no problem. Driveway guy showed up to plow, and did about 5 houses on the street so he is happy. Sidewalk and walkway fell victim to the snow blower.
Should be back in business tomorrow, in time for the predicted snow fall on Friday night into Saturday.

I see an outdoor beer garden and a couple of cigars in my not so distant future. Cool

I guess that's nice, it will be 77 here today at the beaches. But you're still in Texas. Comes the summer you'll be posting in the "its (sic) F%&ken hot!!!" thread and it will still be in the 70s here.

So long as you stay out of that 57 degree water. The ocean is 71 degrees here now, 5 degrees warmer than your August temp. What's the point of going to the beach if you can't go in the water? Just a fact, but it had to be said. Razz

This Saturday the Maryland State Police host the annual polarbear plunge in the Chesapeake Bay. About 15,000 people show up to jump in the Bay with the water temperature about 34 to raise money for the special olympics. They raise about $3 million.
No, I won't be doing that. I don't believe in torture. My idea of "roughing it" is turning the electric blanket down to "medium".

Of course, vinole. After reading a few of his posts, I've pretty much learned what to expect. You will too. If he does it or goes there, it's the best. You ever been to Cancun? It's a mistake I won't repeat.
Ah, the west coast water is fine if you know what to expect. I do enjoy the ocean off Florida when I'm out there, but I've also been there in the dead of summer and gotten soaked moving between buildings without a drop of rain falling! I also vividly remember using my windshield wipers to scrape off the love bugs while I was driving to the Cape at the end of September. Eek

That said, when I was living in Denver I had co-workers who had just moved from Florida. They couldn't take the dry air and moved back without jobs! It's all a matter of what you're used to.

You should have some darn right nice Birthday weather too!!

That is part of the plan. The morning after we leave here the forecast is winter storm in the 30s. Can't say I'll be missing that. Smile

Great museum! I'm thinking shorts, black socks and hush puppies should work in Florida!

Plaid shorts, white belt and a cardigan sweater also

I do know the difference, but I stand corrected.

On the subject of it's freezing; why is it that gas stations and Metra train stations are always the coldest places any time any season? And what are your cold places?

Try the top of a mountain when you get off the chair lift. Nice wind, no protection, and your body is at rest [i.e. no activity] as you have been frozen stiff riding the chair lift for 15 minutes.

Worse than the Metra is the El platforms. Especially when the schedule is off and they run one or more trains by without stopping to get it back in sync.

With lows between 9-12 degrees the next two nights, looks like it will be the weekend before a major warm up. Frown

It was in the 70's last week including this past weekend.

I will believe it when it happens...

Are ya near a window?
All schools in North Texas will be closed for a third straight day.

At 4:00 AM on Tuesday morning, DFW was hit by a major thunderstorm including lighting that lasted over 3 hours. The entire metroplex was covered with ice by 5:30 AM, and still is today.

The winds have been blowing between 25-40+ mph, with a high of 19 and single digit lows each night. Mad

Sweet. I'm supposed to board a plane for home today. I'm half way wishing the thing gets canceled. Wink

Enjoy.
Looks like the weather is an instant replay. This small storm will track to North East again too.

Whats gets me is that NOAA said that this was one of the driest January's. Think some folks will disagree a lot with that comment.

Anybody hear from Al Gore recently re global warming?

Wicked cold tonight. Perfect weather to hose down the ice rink, right??

First of all, I hook up the hose to the faucet. Water freezes before it gets to the end of the 100 ft. hose. (!)

So I take the hose inside to thaw. I run some hot water through it for good measure. Run it outside quickly and hook it up. This time I can get water out the end. As I put water on the ice, everything freezes instantly. My shoes kept freezing to the ice. Thankfully, I got the hose unscrewed and drained before it froze solid inside again.

20 minutes later my fingers are actually thawed enough to enter my password for the computer. And so here I am.

It's F%&ken cold!!!

Used to BBQ in VT, QUEand NYS when there was 20" and temp at -20. Builds character. Big Grin Seriously, food tastes great then and better than expected as it is an unexpected event.

My in-laws continue to live in Chicago, though they could afford a winter get away place in Arizona. My sister and brother-in-law still live there (she says she can't live in a place without snow.) Besides being an insane comment I can see snowy peaks from my house--though we're currently having aberrational lows in the 60s. I just don't get it. I think Chicago's one of the best cities in America, but I just couldn't go back.
