Big Grin Yes! Please keep believing winter here is all 50 degrees, all the time. Tell your friends!

Big Grin... it was so warm tonight we literally had our red wines put on ice and or their cooler.

Just ask Sunny.

Got you beat DD. Closer to 20" by me and had a tree come down in front of my garage. Looks like I'm not getting to work tomorrow either.

Man, I hope everybody who's affected by this storm is safe and well-prepared.

We were waiting to head to the airport for our flight to Hong Kong, which originates in New York. Flight's delayed now by more than 3 hours, and so we won't make our connection to Singapore. Same airline (Cathay Pacific) both legs, so I'm hoping that, knowing of the delay, they have already booked us on a later flight.

Never thought an East coast storm would impact us on the West coast. We'll get to our destination eventually, and meanwhile be stuck drinking Champagne in the lounge for a while before we board and drink Champagne for the flight. First world problem. Smile

In 1942, DC had about a foot of snow on March 28-29. In our lifetime, on March 18 1958 DC had about 5" but the northern suburbs had over a foot. and on Mar 11, 1993 DC had about 10" with the northern suburbs getting about 18"

It was 1983, if I recall correctly. We got over 2 feet with heavy winds.

I was driving a truck on the night shift during this storm. On my way back to the lot around 8 AM, I couldn't even see the edges of the road from the shoulder. Barely made it. Power-slid my way down into the lot to find my 1967 VW buried up to the roof in drifts. Abandoned my truck, wrapped trash bags around my legs with duct tape, and jumped the back of a northbound plow 5 miles to a few blocks from my apartment. Picked my wife up from her job at the store she worked at and we waded home. First time I had two days off in a row in over a year.

True story.

In Stasbourg, Alsace, yesterday, 85°F and thunderstorms that released sheeting rain and at the same time hailstones, some the size of my thumbnail, the largest I've ever encountered!  It was almost biblical in its intensity for about 45 minutes. We were soaked in seconds, and spent most of that time seeking shelter along with many others under shop awnings.

Can't imagine this is doing anything good for the local vines.  We saw quite a bit of flooding in the town, especially in some of the vacant fields just outside town, but hopefully drainage is a lot better in the vineyards.
