Hopefully we'll be above freezing just long enough today that I can get out and see if there are any provisions left at the grocery store. We're running low at this point.

Good luck. At least you have plenty of wine.. Wink

As far as you Floridians are concerned, bite me. Razz

PH

Picture on FB yesterday of our local Whole Foods was wiped out, but D went on Thursday.

I just beat 3-4" of solid ice off of our driveway. Our local Yankee neighbor ( Michigan) was also out beating the ice. Both of our drives have a steep inclines. He was even bitching about the ice thickness. He lost a beautiful tree as well.

I feel for the 4000+ people stuck in the DFW airport since Thursday. Ack

Dallas must be one of the worst places for ice storms, further north you get snow, further south you get rain.

Houston is chilly, but no ice.

Ice sucks. Just got done shoveling the heavy, wet snow before the ice hits it. Didn't know you guys were so badly affected. I still find it hard to feel sorry for you, though. Wink

Got about 3" up here last night and today.
Easy peezy. Winter just gettin' warmed up.
Phew! All that brushing of snow off the car Big Grin

I got a trial in your county tomorrow, PH.
They gonna close the court? I can't wait to drive the 1.5 hrs in the ice to get there. Eek

Snowing in downtown Seattle right now. Even when the court is closed, my unit still has to show up. We are considered "essential". Roll Eyes Wish they thought that when it comes time for contract negotiations.
I just stepped outside to check it out. Nothing here on Capitol Hill.
What I really don't need is a situation like a couple of years ago when those of us with all- wheel drive were ferrying employees from all over town to keep up with the holiday rush.
Even with chains on all four tires there is no getting around a jackknifed articulated bus blocking all lanes. The city turned into a frozen maze with no certain route from any point A to B.

You need to consider what wine to open!

Oh…yeah. Wine. Doh. Have a 2002 Frédéric Magnien Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Les Cazetiers standing. Found during a recent reshuffle of the cellar. Actually, it's what inspired the dish.

My rough guess is that wine will show better in 3-5 years than it will now. I'm guessing you opened it and I look forward to your opinion.

It's destined for destruction tonight. I'll decant it some before we get into it.

PH

An ice cold night, with a Boeuf Bourguinon, and an 11 year old 1er cru, G-C.
You are living the good life, PH!

I should mention the good side of the arctic outbreak. We were playing hockey this weekend down at the Arboretum. I can remember only 3-4 times being able to do that.

I saw a video of some guy playing hockey on his neighborhood street in Dallas the other day--wearing actual ice skates! LOL
Just 3 inches of fluffiness here in Saginaw. Easy work for the snowblower.

I didn't see it personally. Got the news from King-5. Said it was coming down at 5th & Cherry. Of course I didn't see anything on the ground the next day.
I'm sure they were already dusting off their screen graphics for "Snowmaggedon: 2013" or "Snowpocalypse: 2013". Roll Eyes

I'm hoping our winter is now behind us. Wink

Sure...rub it in!!! I used to laugh when I was in Florida for school and residency. The first year down in Miami I think the temps were in the 50's for one or two days and Im outside in shorts and a T-shirt and the natives were in winter jackets, boots and ski hats.

However, I will admit that after being down there for years and coming back north, the blood was a bit thinner.

Indeed! I used to live in your neck of the woods and when temps start to creep below -20 thats F'n cold! We were -1 here yesterday and that was cold enough for me.
