1998 E. Guigal Côte-Rôtie Brune et Blonde

Sadly, my last of 11 bottles purchased for $32 each. They got progressively better with each bottle.

Nice on all fronts

I was turned on to this bottling by dinwiddie at an offline many years ago at Jean Louis at the Watergate.  So good then, I bought 3 for myself just afterward.  Long gone, but delicious memories.

We had it for the first time at a restaraunt at Disney World if you believe that.  Must have been 15 or so years ago if not more

2018 Tardieu-Laurent, Tavel, Vieilles Vignes

The only thing more I could ask of this rosé is warmer weather.

NV Chartogne-Taillet, Champagne, Cuvée Sainte Anne

Solid Champagne for a relatively reasonable price.

2006 Ca' Viola, Barolo, Sottocastello

The floral nose on this was incredible and a hard act for the palate to follow, but still a really good Barolo.

2015 Keermont, Chenin Blanc, Terrasse

My last bottle <sniff, sniff> of this excellent wine, which is really a blend but 70% chenin.

2016 Badenhorst, Cinsault, Ramnasgras

The bright red cherry and lighter body  of this wine worked well with the turkey dinner. Although after having drunk 2 bottles, I have to say it was a little over-priced and overrated by Tim Atkin (94). Three or four points lower in my book.

2014 Jean Foillard, Morgon

Same level as the above wine, but 40% cheaper. Foillard is always solid.

2018 Foradori, Manzoni Bianco, Fontanasanta

This is a pretty unique wine. Blind I would have been clueless as to what I was drinking. A genetic hybrid of riesling and pinot bianco from Trentino, it is a full bodied, white fruit and mineral driven wine. There is still some in the bottle so I can try it again later today. I think this wine could use a few years in the cellar and I actually should have decanted it last night.

Over the last week or so:

2013 Ridge Zin Jimsomare
2006 Henri Goutorbe Special Club
2017 Hartford Court Chardonnay Four Hearts Vineyard
2012 Ceritas Cabernet Peter Martin Ray
2014 Paul Hobbs Chardonnay Edward James Estate
2015 Beaucastel CdP (brought to dinner by a friend).

The Hartford Court was a pleasant surprise in terms of QPR, but all were really good.  I would have held off on the Beaucastel, but it wasn't my bottle.

Recently

2008 Giuseppe Mascarello Barolo Monprivato - beautiful

2011 Ferdinando Principiano Barolo Ravera di Monforte - nice

2014 Aldo Conterno Barbera Conca Tre Pile

2011 Pavelot Savigny les Beaune 1er La Dominode - starting to drink nicely

2009 Baron Fuente Brut - great qpr

Over the long weekend:

2016 Produttori Langhe Neb - good stuff

2015 Venus Universal Dido red - good stuff

2014 Sybille Kuntz Kabinett trocken - more trocken than kabinett, good dose of petrol, tons of acidity

2008 Quinta do Vallado Touriga Nacional - was unimpressed with these in their youth, but they're starting to come around.  Big.

2013 Mure Clos Saint Landelin Riesling - very good grand cru alsatian.  lots of tropical fruit, good texture, bone dry.

2004 Qunitarelli Valopolicella - Awesome.  Great bottle.

2016 Luis Seabra Xisto Cru Branco - Awesome.  like 1er chablis, but even more minerality and acid.  Cant waite to revisit again this evening.

2016 Luis Seabra Indie Xisto - Awesome.   These two wines were a great intro to Seabra's wines for me and will definetly be seeking out more.

Interesting note on the Xisto Branco. All three bottles of my 2015 were corked and I haven't bothered with anything from them since. It was quite disappointing.

You had mentioned this to me not long ago and it had me nervous opening it.  Our experience with the wine couldnt have been more different.

Can’t deny it’s a well-made wine. It’s just not my style. Candied fruit and savoury notes competing with each other.

I had one last week and felt the same way.  I've really ejoyed previous vintages as lithe elegant expressions of frappato but this one saw too much heat.  I couldnt get over the jolly rancher.

Last night before seeing Gemini Man with a friend.  Both from 375:

2014 Louis Michel Montée de Tonnerre - still young, but lovely.

2009 Lous Michel Vaudesir - mildly oxidized, but drinkable.

After the movie, also from 375:

2000  Léoville Poyferré -  Best showing for this bottling in my experience.  Delicious.  Right in the zone.
