Thanks for the recommendation. Counter space is one of the main factors plus I really don't think I would get my dollars worth out of a toaster oven. Just looking for a regular 4 slice toaster. Been on-line with Consumer Reports and America's Test Kitchen. Thanks for the suggestion.

Same here. Ours is about 4 years old and gets used several times per week. We've been very happy with it.
Doesn't take up much counter space as it has two long parallel slots, each wide enough to accommodate two slices.
It's much faster than the toaster oven when it comes to toasting bread, bagels, English muffins, etc. Results are pretty even, too.
Has a button to turn off one side to save juice when you want to toast only 1 or 2 slices. Has another button for toasting frozen items.
Only weakness is the left side of the long lifters (the metal thingies that lower and raise the toast) tend to get bent down a bit over time, which results in the left slice not quite clearing the top of the slot, but that can be easily bent back into place with a knife. It may eventually break, but it's hanging in there after four years. When it does, I'll get another Cuisinart.
I'd certainly recommend the Cuisinart over those outrageously overpriced metal monsters you find at Williams-Sonoma and other "it's expensive so it must be gourmet" shops. Doubt they work any better, and they cost 4 times as much.
