lots of talk of gorging yourselves on a regular basis. I am not trying to insult, but I see the same posters post postings very often of massive spreads with bottles of wine with each course. 5 courses and 5 wines, often times more. it's pretty unhealty. I saw photos of an offline with members of this forum, and there were some VERY overweight and unhealthy peeps mixed in with only a few people that actually looked healthy. Do you control your weight by exercising regularly and avoiding high colesterol foods on a regular basis, or just eat, drink and get fat?
Also, do any of you worry about alcoholism and drinking too much? Do you practice moderation?

Gluttony and alcoholism. I think both are important subject matters.

I drink about half a bottle of wine at one time. Sometimes I drink more, but it it unusual.

When I go to a restaurant I want to order an appetizer or two, a glass of wine, a coke, an entree and dessert. If I do this, I will regret it because it makes me sick. I have found that I feel much better with just an entree and a salad before (if it comes with the meal). Although I will order and pay extra for beet salad. Sometimes I even take food home with me in a doggy bag or to-go container (how tacky am I?).
Count me in. Doesn't the alcohol kill the caloric content of the food? I was sure I read that somewhere. I also walk my dog a whole 10 min each day - sometimes 2 or even 3 times per day if I can't con my husband into it. Surely, that should take care of the thousands of extra calories each week. I am not sure why I carry the extra pounds, must just be my metabolism Big Grin
I was quite overweight some time ago, which seriously affected my sex life. The only people interested in gettng jiggy with me were other overweight slobs like me. Something had to be done because I was getting tired of purchasing new mattresses every 6 months, sometimes sooner. The spings just could not handle me and my dates more than that.
I started researching diets and a friend suggested a liquid diet. At about the same time I discovered wine, which in turn led me to experiment with wine only diet. The results were amazing! I started losing pounds right away, and the best part of it - when you are seriously drunk, you feel no food cravings whatsoever. I went from 275lb to 175lb in three unsober months and never dated chunkies since then. How is that for a personal story? To make things even more exstatic, I turned my mom into a first rate wino and now we can easily polish off 2-3 bottles of meduim priced wine on a week night, while watching American Idol or Lost or something like that. Things cannot be going any better for me, really.

No, no, yes, yes, no.

I just eat whatever I want, whenever I want, in whatever quantities I want. My favorites are high fat, high cholesterol (I would think a wine and food expert would know how to spell it), and high protein. I'm not much of a sweets kind of guy though. I was blessed with great cholesterol and an even better metabolism. I'm 6'6", 200 pounds, and my body fat is 12%. I exercise, but not to lose weight. I only gain weight when I lift weights, and it doesn't matter how many calories I consume a day; if I don't lift, I stay the same weight. My metabolism adjusts to whatever I do. More food, more metabolism. Less food, less metabolism. I've never felt better.

Now where's that fat-dripping 48oz prime ribeye I've been craving all week? And don't hold back on the cheesecake.

....and as for the "King Crab or Lobster" thread........why choose? I'll take five pounds of each please, and extra butter. None of that margarine crap. While you're at it, throw a couple pounds of bacon on top too, that 1/2 pound with a dozen eggs just wasn't enough for breakfast.

Well, duh, of course you are or you wouldn't use labels such as "gluttons" and "alcoholics".

Personally, I'm with the crowd on the cancelling out part. It works in three easy steps:
1) Eat as much as you want of whatever you want.
2) Drink more than you want of whatever you want.
3) Vomit.

The stomach acids can be a little tough on the 'ol teeth, but if I'm semi-lucid I'll try to use some mouthwash without spilling it all over the counter.
I started reading this whilst opening a tube of Pringles and they seem to have gone. Cats must have been nibbling.

I eat, I drink and I'm in pretty good shape. Must be doing it right.

An alcoholic is addicted to alcohol and it affects their life adversely. I am not addicted to alcohol. I took three weeks off it last month as part of a mini-detox and didn't crave it once, so I'm not an alcoholic. However, I do like wine and beer and can drink a reasonable amount before I fall over. I have yet to fall over at an off-line but I'm sure somebody will be there with a camera when I do.

As for gluttony I can eat a fair amount before I get to a standstill but I seldom overeat and I exercise, in the form of running, swimming and squash, because I enjoy releasing the energy and the competition. So I suppose I'm not a glutton either. Oooh look, another tube of Pringles.

I guess that I'm lucky that all of these things help make up the wondrous being that I am.

BTW... coldbronson actually made a funny post.

..."Life" should NOT be ajourney to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, champagne in one hand - strawberries in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming;
"WOO HOO!!!" - What a Ride!"

Annual appearance?

I don't think he's a doctor. I think he's a groundhog.

Last year, there were way, way more responses.

It looks like now he's a mere shadow of his former self.

That was pretty funny actually, that same person now goes by the name of Panda Wine. I thought the comments about vegans being college girls who did not get enough attention from there fathers was classic.
