Not only because it would mean that restaurants are back in business, but that forum participation by wine enthusiasts is up. More optimistic for the former than the latter, but hoping for some of both. A post by xhoser in 2011 got me to my first offline. I’ve since broken bread and pulled corks with a whole bunch of fine folks from here at restaurants locally, in Toronto, at my home and the homes of others. There were planned wine dinners for Tuesday this week as well as today that were scrapped because of the pandemic. I’ll assume that others join me in being ready for when those great times happen again.

Well Miami Atty and his wife, Fkg and I and bman, his wife and Wine + Art got together a couple/few weeks ago in Florida. Was a very fun night but unfortunately seeming the last one for quote a while. Looking forward to a return of normality one day.
Didn’t hear about this one either

Stef texted you about it
I don't post here much any longer but would love to offline again soon. I've met some of the finest people in the world through them, including you Bill, and would hate to see that go away.
I have a feeling that once the coast is clear and things are somewhat normal, forumites are going to give their favorite restaurant some serious business and open some fantastic bottles.
so, crazy idea, but we used to do this with the port tastings. It unfortunately doesnt work as well with older more delicate wines.
But we used to open a bottle, seal it in medical grade 100cc liquid specimen containers, seal it up and ship it across the country to fellow tasters so we can have a virtual offline with the same wine.
I'd be happy to do that if anybody is interested.
Billhike I agree totally, the pent-up demand to experience what we used to take for granted is inspiring and palpable

Yes, definitely! Looking forward to seeing forumites in person sooner than later!
Bump…I’m optimistic that I will break bread with some forumites this year.
Unfortunately my optimism is not as contagious as the Omicron variant.
Had one off line already this year and hopefully will have another one in April after it warms up. We're still going strong with great wines and great food!
Just met up with 3 other Forumites in NYC for back to back dinners. The WSForums may not be what they once were, but I am grateful that I met some amazing people here. Friendships that will last a lifetime.
