Not only because it would mean that restaurants are back in business, but that forum participation by wine enthusiasts is up. More optimistic for the former than the latter, but hoping for some of both. A post by xhoser in 2011 got me to my first offline. I’ve since broken bread and pulled corks with a whole bunch of fine folks from here at restaurants locally, in Toronto, at my home and the homes of others. There were planned wine dinners for Tuesday this week as well as today that were scrapped because of the pandemic. I’ll assume that others join me in being ready for when those great times happen again.

so, crazy idea, but we used to do this with the port tastings.  It unfortunately doesnt work as well with older more delicate wines.

But we used to open a bottle, seal it in medical grade 100cc liquid specimen containers, seal it up and ship it across the country to fellow tasters so we can have a virtual offline with the same wine.

I'd be happy to do that if anybody is interested.
