If you didn't notice, I'm new here. I've spent a good deal of my life in NY between the finger lakes and the great lakes and gone on a number of local wine tours. That being said, I am just starting to take an interest in truly understanding wine and I'm hoping I can learn a lot from everyone here.

Welcome! I live in the Finger Lakes area (Ithaca) now, so if you are ever around and want to get together with some other "wineos," post a note.

Gman/parcival: I'd be in on that as well. Was up there in October passing through for work and really enjoyed the few visits I went on.

i'll let you know, i do the drive so i can make pit stops with the kids.

i enjoy staying @ hope lake lodge when i go up and usually bring a 6pack up.

it's like 30 mins from watkins glen and the main parts of wineries

but it's a nice place and every room has a kitchen.

i like stopping by the butchers and farmers markets in ithaca and bringing it back since all the wineries are closed around 5. (I find the restaurants lacking unfortunately, the ingredients are good, but the technique is a bit lacking).

Ithaca itself though, has some cool wine bars and restaurants too, which is another reason why i like this hotel i stay at
