Just wanted to take this time to wish everyone a very happy, healthy, and prosperous New Year.

Like most years, we have seen our ups and downs.

Latour67-get well soon buddy and I hope to see you posting again in 2011. And anyone else who has had any medical issues, I wish you all a speedy recovery and good health in the upcoming years.

To you young whipper snappers, enjoy life to it's fullest. As Yogi said, "youth is wasted on the young". Live , love and laugh. Don't take life too seriously.

To my dear friends, and you all know who you are, I hope to see everyone of you more often in the New Year. You have all meant so much to myself (and Mrs. DP). Those of you who have met my best friend and wife know just how lucky a person I really am.

We should all meet more often at offlines and our homes.

Drink well and stay healthy.

The very best to all of you in 2011 and beyond.

Shalom,

DoktaP

I apologize for first posting this in the TN section. It was one of those morning brain farts you get right after breakfast.

Well said, DoktaP.
All the best to those of you I have met, and those with whom I have only chatted, and those of you who read my posts and laugh, and finally those who disagree, but don't get nauseous.

Appreciate how lucky we are. In Baltimore this year, we've had 222 murders. And, it's the lowest number since 1985!!
Latour67-- a special note.......Get better, buddy.
I registered on this Forum for no other reason other than to expand upon my interest in wine. Learning more about something I loved and maybe sharing that passion.
I not only succeeded in learning much, much more about wine but I also learned that the more I know, the more I realize I really don't know. However, beyond the vast and varied knowledge that exists here, what has truly impressed me most has been the number of truly generous and wonderful people on this board that I have had the pleasure to meet that I would never have crossed paths with otherwise. I am not one to put much attention on 'milestone' post-counts. However I admittedly feel compelled with this, my 10,000th post, to just very briefly reflect upon what this forum has provided me and my appreciation for it. There is some tradition established here regarding' milestones' and I feel inclined to provide just some respect to that as well.

It's also become abundantly clear to me that I spend too much damn time on here. Big Grin

I'd just like to recognize and extend a sincere 'Thank you' to those members that I've had the privilege and good fortune to personally meet and have shared good conversation and fine wines with. With several, we've been able to briefly spend time at an event together (CDPs and off-lines). For others, we've shared very fine meals and spectacular (even legendary) wines together. The oft-demonstrated generosity of some on this board is truly overwhelming. With others, you're more than wine buddies. You've become dear friends and comrades. We communicate off-line often and have had many conversations ranging from the introspective to the hilariously funny. We've shared life experiences past and present. We share our successes and our losses. We share.

Memories. So many memories.
Enough said. Just... Thank you.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! Cool

Nicely said, Dokta.

Congratulations KSCO2. We've been on the boards about the same amount of time, but you've been 10 times as prolific!
And you've offlined with 58x more Forumites--Lucky You. Wink

Wishing all a Happy and Prosperous New Year, and wishing for good health, especially LaTour67.

I like to share the fact that I post on an online wine forum with family, friends, and co-workers. I tell them that it is the primary source of my limited knowledge of wine. When I tell them that I have traveled around the country for the sole purpose of sharing wine with members of the wine forum, I receive some rather puzzled looks and comments.

I have been thoroughly impressed by the quality of the people that post here; interesting, educated, diverse, and very generous.

I look forward to seeing many familiar faces in 2011 and meeting some new ones.

Cheers!

P.S. Congratulations on post number 10,000, KSC02.
Wonderful posts by all in this thread, especially DoktaP and KSC02. I want to add my amazement and gratitude to everyone who posts on this forum. From the generosity at offlines to having all your wine questions answered within minutes of posting, this forum has been such a joy to be a part of.

I hope everyone has a safe New Year's Eve and a great 2011. I look forward to seeing old friends and making new ones.

Cheers,

Jack
All right, let's all gather tomorrow at noon at Fairmont Bagels for a group hug (no mouth-kisses please..... Eek) in honour of Dok's very nice (truly Dok, I'm briefly suspending the mockery here Smile) New Year's post and K's 10,000th post (first Canadian to reach that milestone, I can't help noting). After getting a few doz (everything bagels for me pls) and a couple of pounds of smoked meat at Schwartz's, we'll repair to chez K & D to raid his cellar (everyone gets to pick a bottle) and some real Montreal eating. Cool Mrs. bman will bring the tourtiere!

Now, to find a flight.....
Bman, Happy new year to you and Mich. You will be missed at our annual Ottawa offline, but we'll be sure to raise our glasses and proposes many toasts in your honour. The Friday nights just won't be the same. Be sure to get back here healthy and happy asap. My regards to A and A as well. Are they with you currently for the holidays?
Thanks Dok - yes, pls raise a glass of port (but not TOO nice a glass please! Roll Eyes) to mrs. bman and me! In fact, I just opened a 91 Croft (one of my precious 5 bottles of port here!) - I think I just decided that Croft is my second favourite port after Graham - and maybe number 1!

Yes, they are both here, though he goes back for his last semester on Monday while his sister gets another week of home cookin'!
