Happy 71st to another Smith: Patti Smith

If you have not seen her version of Dylan's "Hard Rain" that she sang at the Nobel awards, it's awesome.

Never saw it before, haggis. Amazing, emotional and powerful. Even with (and maybe even more so) for the little flub. Thanks for the tip!

PH

Indeed! The "flub" was very touching.

Happy 80th to Sir Anthony Hopkins

Happy Birthday to Bobbie Burns! I know what I'm drinking tonight.

Given your moniker, I presumed you had a wee dram every night! Or are you saying that tonight the dram will not be wee?

Hi bman, ol' pal. Tonight it will NOT be a wee dram! Well, perhaps it will be several wee drams! Cool

If you can find a haggis there you might want to indulge yourself tonight in the full ceremonial manner - in for a penny, in for a pound!

Umm...well, yes, I guess I would have to google them! But, I am an equal opportunity birthday celebrator, so bring them on!

Ditto that for me. My list random sport famous in there Day and way people would sorta read...Gerry Lopez, Rory Russel, Wayne Rabbit Bartholomew, Barry K, Reno Abellira, Tom Curren, Skip Frye, Buttons, Tom carroll, Marvin Foster, Taylor Knox, Richard Kenvin, Rex Huffman and a shout to Larry Mabile aka Larmo down at the point. Stylemasters, all.

and how....

don't get me started on the Tom Burt's, Terry Kidwell's, Craig Kelly (omigawd) or Lance Mountain, Natas Kaupas and the rest either!!!!

Natas...there's a blast from the past! But then a mention should go to Tony Alva, Stacey Peralta and all the Z-boys. I still remember when I got a Dogtown deck, or was it a Powell/Peralta, with 120 mm Independents and hard sliders. What a game changer from my beat up Fiberflex with old school sticky urethanes.

I still have my G&S fibreflex with Bennett Pro's and OJ Super Juice. Still jump on it every once in while for a ride
