+1! g-man: as pretty much the last two portlovers left here, I need to know: which epic port are you opening?

i wish

it's a work night for me.

But tuesday I'm attending the 2016 port releases and will hopefully drinking a few with a few of the wine makers and owners!

I went to a tasting of the 97s in late 2000 and didn't enjoy it, actually. Every one of them tasted more or less the same - like sweet sticky over-sugared wine. On the plus side, it ensured that I would be patient with my bottles and let them mature!

ah

lots of water, they've changed up the format for these.

they'll typically bring a btl at 20, 10 and last release to compare against the current release, so you get a good sense of how that vineyard/property ages.

Sadly, such tastings here are as rare as a Republican in Hawaii, so doubt I'll get a chance to taste new releases here again. Just as well, as I stopped buying with the 2007 vintage.
