Milan itself is a pain in the ass!

I have to say, after a couple of days strolling around Milan is a pretty ugly city. While there are a few architectural gems and the very interesting monumental cemetery, overall it feels cold and industrial.

We were there for 4 nights a few summers ago and ended spending 2 of our 3 days at Lake Como!

We had a second lake day planned, but a combo of weather and illness had us laying low more than anticipated.

Milan, go see the Last Supper painting, then get to Lake Como ASAP!

Already at MXP. Kind of ready to be home. 16 nights in Italy is pretty good living, and the 7 we spent with 5 other couples in Florence made up of our best friends were special.

Sunny, beautiful, and WARM Santa Barbara.

So much nicer than the weather we left this morning.

Stop by new Samsara tasting room in Goleta if you have time. Winemaker Matt Brady is good guy and talented.

Thanks for a great suggestion, Bomba!

We had dinner with Matt in Santa Barbara a few years ago when he was assistant winemaker at Jaffurs. He was very passionate and knowledgeable, a super nice guy. It'll be interesting to see what he's up to now.

Enjoy! Two of my friends just got back from SB today and saw him. Said he's making lots of interesting rhone style syrahs on top of the pinots they make. Real good guy and surprisingly good golfer. He beat us up a few years ago at the SB muni course playing in a flannel shirt and hiking boots.

Nice!  We are here, too.  Went to the Eiffel tower last night.  Beautiful at night!  Our hotel is about a 15 min walk, so really conveniently located.

Awesome!  The weather has been great. Getting ready to get some cocktails from the Hemingway Bar tonight.  Tomorrow is supposed to rain; so we hope to hit some museums - l’Orangerie (sp?) and a private collection of Impressionist works)

Paris. It looks like that a few people are here. Rainy but who cares. Went to farmers market and l’orangerie today and of course shopping. Cooked a great meal in our room tonight. Tomorrow more museums.

Yes, several of us here!  Too bad we didn't know.  Could have met up.  We are heading back home in the morning.  Next time!

We decided to visit the Musee Marmottan and arrived around noon.  We walked right in and had mostly the Monets to ourselves.  Before we left  around 2:30, there was a line out the door, and the rain had stopped.  Great museum if you like that period.  Sadly, we head back on Sunday as well.

How did that work out for you?  Both Scott and DeSantis won!

A crook and a racist - the dynamic duo.

Seems in harmony with what we have observed here on the forum.
