Hoovered up some cod tongues last night!

Mmmm. Leo's for a fish & chips deluxe with extra dressing. Or even better Chawkers (now called Fabulous Foods) on Merrymeeting Rd. The best dressing (I used to live on their chips, dressing & gravy), amazing turkey pies & rolls and apricot squares.

We haven't needed to venture that far afield yet to find great food! So far we've hit Aqua, The Club, Granite and Mallard Cottage, and not a bad bit of food in any of them. Shame one can't bring wine though. Tonight it's pizza in the room while watching a movie - picked up a bottle of 2005 Alion at 30% off, ditto a half of 2006 Almaviva. Just got back from an afternoon of whale and puffin watching!
Siena is the coolest place I have ever been. We just got back from wandering the streets for an hour. A guy was playing classical music alone in the dark on a cello in front of the Duomo at 11pm. It was surreal. It all felt medieval in ways you can't put into words. Would love to spend a month here some day. My son would be happy to join me

One of my best friends spent a year there in college. Post-college, she lived in Florence, then NYC for a number of years and has been back in Florence since the late 90s.

That's cool. If you do go back in the summer, time it so that you are able to watch some of the Palio especially the trials and the pageantry.

Sounds like this is a great trip with your son. Enjoy and hope to catch up soon when you're back in the states

Pop on over to Edmonton after your trip and we can offline! It's been ages!!

Rob - let me know if you have any chance of heading up the road to Austin, or at a minimum need any recs for San Antonio!

Plano & Frisco - Just getting on the plane to go back home.

Thanks VB - I would have loved to have had more time, this was 'go look at seven apartment complexes with a group of other people and get back home', so no chance of getting out of the itinerary...

San Antonio was HOT! Dallas was just hot. I'm sure I'll be back down there though and next time we need to meet up!

Edmonton. I'm sure no one is jealous.....

I was born there so I can say this; 'It's not the end of the world, but you can see it from there.'

I've been here several times and quite like it, though given how big and spread out it is, it takes a while to get around town!

Eat well, Jack.

I was there recently and my group was in wine heaven with the Champagne and white Burgundy list at Clancy's.

Love Clancy 's!!! Nothing too crazy for us since we have the kids with us. We did get to Port of Call for lunch today and are eating at Jacques Imos tonight. Looking forward to some panneed rabbit.

Remember what I told you stay away from the Absinthe
