imho, no country with a strong cuisine is truly comparable as they are so different. (Ie France, Italy, Greece, Japanese, Chinese etc)

what do you mean?
Chinese cuisine is by far one of the most diversified in the world and that's only cuz westerners like to group an entire continent representing north of 200+ cultures as "China"
even worse when we go "Asian"

Relax. I used the term China as in Chinese cuisine as a whole. As in originating from the country not the whole Asian pacific region. Not Thai or Vietnamese but Chinese cuisine. And yes many westerners do confuse that but again not everyone- that’s bit of a generalization but it’s true
Ramsay learned long ago how to get eyeballs to watch him. He's done it again.
We all know what he said is total BS

There are 7 distinct cuisines in China, which one you referring to?
@mimik posted:There are 8 culinary cuisines in China, not 7. I have had Szechuan, Hunan and Cantonese. I have not had the others, at least not to my knowledge. Why do you ask?
7 ,jiangsu is nonsense and basically is shanghainese style cuisine
but with the diversity of chinese cuisine, you can pretty much find similar styles through out the world reflected in one of the 7 chinese cuisines.

Chinese cuisine likely the best in the world….a very close second would be Italian. Cannot understand why French is so revered (other than technique)…just don’t really care for it.

Generally the idea is that french cuisine was probably one of the first cuisines to really codify a series of steps, classification and preparation of various types of dishes with the scientific purposes of figuring out how to mix and match the various preparations.
I don't believe many cuisines have really yet to still undertake such endeavour.
