Just curious.
I'm going to Tuscany for the first time in November. Does anyone have experience or an educated guess as to whether it will be less expensive to buy some wine there (when considering the euro conversion) than it would be buying them in the US? Looking at $15-$40 per bottle purchases. Thanks

I was there is Summer of 06. The only benefit I saw was that I was able to find wines that were not available here. As for price....what was available here in the states was priced the same or even less in some cases than in Tuscany. As for the comment of price point above I agree......good wines in Tuscany are not cheap.....for say a very good hard to find 97 Brunello you will be paying at least a $100/750ml.
At the price points you have listed I don't think you will find any bargains (esp. since the Euro is at a $1.38). I agree with the other posters here. Enjoy the food and wine experience while you are there. If you drink something you really like (which will happen) then ask the proprietor of the ristorante, osteria, trattoria, etc. if you can purchase some to take home. Most will allow you to do that.
