Thanks TPE. It is the strap that came with my Patek - it is lovely but the residual stain is highly annoying. I'll take your advice!

Thanks mangiare. No intentions on buying there, just looking at a spot where I might be able to try it on and I think they're the only dealer in Toronto.

I've had a few Panerai though the only one I still have is a 111 which my wife wears daily. I have to say the 44mm is, to me, much more comfortable than the 1950 case. I had a 127 when they first came out (which I wish I had kept!) but it was too big for my wrist by a fair margin. Unless you have your dress shirts made with it in mind, they probably won't fit over it (if that's a consideration, either because you don't wear dress shirts or you think a watch like that shouldn't be worn with one...).

Rob, thanks for your insights. I am not concerned about the size withd ress shirts - I manage with my Corum Bubble XL, so this can't be any worse than that watch.

One question: 47mm? I was under the impression all 3 of the models being discussed (including your 111) were 44mm. Am I mistaken? The PAM website indicates 44mm.

Go to TimeZone.com it's a pretty busy marketplace and will give you a pretty good indication of prices. Of course it will also make you want to turn that sell into a trade. Or a trade your Sea Dweller plus cash.

Atelier du Bracelet Parisien or A.B.P. is a fantastic place for straps. Very high quality. If this is your first or only panerai though I would look for a Metta Catharina strap. The quintessential panerai strap and so perfect on them. Great story around the leather as well.

Really wouldn't waste your money on a TAG. Many higher quality options for the money.

Agreed, love Heuer don't love TAG Heuer...

Then again, if you want a Monaco, nothing else is a substitute (Expect for a real 70's Heuer Monaco!)

If you don't mind the drive, Ancaster Jewelers in, well Ancaster. Ask for the owner Jean-Pierre and tell him that I sent you. He should give you a good price. Feel free to call him first, probably safer given the distance.

It is a casual day for me today and I'm wearing a Panerai.

The PAM 347 is really the classic PAM 321 with a metal band. I'm a fan of the P 9000 movement ( in-house) and think you would enjoy the watch. That said, I do love Zenith as well ( excellent movements) and you cannot go wrong here. Does the Zenith have a metal strap? Not sure I have seen that watch with metal before.

The Zenith does have a metal strap yes. The face is just a lot busier than the Panerai so I'm concerned I'll not like it over the long run, which is why I'm leaning toward the Panerai, along with the in house movement.
