I will wear my Omega Seamaster tomorrow as a tribute. Nice touch bro.

With your new purchase today and ever growing watch collection, seems like you should let your twin bro wear the AP Star Wheel for the next decade or so. Razz Wink

Wow! Bow Bow There are VERY FEW wristwatches I would ever wear... The Star Wheel has always had a place on that list, and the handful of times I have seen a man wearing one, I always make it a point to compliment him on such a fine timepiece. Well done! My second favorite AP behind the first edition cabinet collection Jules Piguet.

Thanks TPE. The first time I saw one, I put it on my bucket list. 10 years later, I took the plunge and have no regrets. I had it serviced in March, and since then, the accuracy has been unprecedented.

You are a smart man with fantastic taste in wine and watches. Excellent investment that your children surely will be fighting over one day many years from now.

Their watches may push the limit for size for your build, but you will lose very little, very little if you decide the watch is not for you in a year or two.

I looked at one in Santa Fe that was being resold, and it was only $650 below retail.

Always look forward to a good a$$ kicking!!

Yes...I have read the resale is quite high on these panerai watches...the one I am looking at is the PAM 241...40mm face and fits me quite well dammit! Big Grin

They had to send it to the factory in Switzerland for the quote which took 7 weeks. They expect it to be ready in 14-20 weeks… To make matters worse, I had to sit down when they gave me the quote.

Oh the joys…

Sent it in in June, got the quote at the beginning of July and finally picked it up yesterday... The guy at the shop apologized saying they're really busy and people are waiting up to 8-10 weeks, I reminded him that it was over 22 weeks for me...

$1,650 later and I have my watch back. It looks brand new but for that money you would think it would have come back in at least a felt roll if not some sort of box and not the padded paper envelop it got it in.

Good to know. Do you have my email?

My wife's Panerai is acting up again (it's amazing it never did when I owned it...) and my Heuer Daytona needs to get serviced as well.[/QU

What's the matter.... Just bought one a few months ago!
Marcb7 - Nothing major, just doesn't keep great time. I think she bangs it a lot which is never great for a watch. Thankfully most Panerais use a pretty basic ETA movement which is easy and cheap(ish) to work on... They might be really nicely finished but the movement is the exact same one that all the fakes use as well!

Now the JLP and Heuer movements are much more complicated and delicate. My Heuer Daytona is a pain in the arse. That caliber 12 movement is cool but finicky...

I wrestled with the same issue. Not saying I came to the best conclusion, but I buy the $100 jobs and replace when needed. I probably average 24 months between replacements.

I'm in the same boat. Just never found one I love.

Marcb7 and I texted about this before he posted this question. I'm hoping he pulls the trigger on an expensive one that he will test run for me. Wink

I settled on a very functional 4 watch winder sold by Brookstone. About $200, and it has multiple adjustable settings for the winder.

Does it wind in both directions? I have two watches that require this.

Indeed. The adjustability is quite extensive.
