A nice week of watch-buying for someone who appreciates them but whose appetite stops around $1000.

VB, let's have dinner soon and you can show me your new watch. I hope you love it as time passes.

It's been too long my friend! I'm home in Austin Friday evenings to Monday mornings and in Waco for work in between. The new company does has an office in Dallas though so I feel the need for a visit. Wink

You must be making serious $$$ to spend that much time in Waco. Wink

I've never been to Waco but my wife watches this home improvement show based on Waco. They buy these houses for like $75K! I could buy 20 houses in Waco for the cost of our current house. Crazy the disparity of cost of living around the country. I understand why it is, but it's still crazy when you think about it.

It is crazy, but I would not live in Waco if they gave me a house. Big Grin

Funny, you drive about 90 miles south of Waco and the homes are also 15-20 times more.
Ahh Waco...

It certainly is not Austin, but now that I'm getting to learn it a bit after doing nothing but driving through it on the interstate my whole life I'm seeing there are some charms. That said, it's nice to come home!

Oh yeah, that "home improvement" show filmed there is single-handedly bringing the economy back from the dead. Over 35k roll through town every week to visit the Silos, 50% of which are from out of state. The little downtown area, vacant two years ago, is beginning to thrive. I'm excited for the town and the people, but again - glad to call Austin home.

For all of you horology sluts like me, Dresden is a very special place.

A very special selection of both German and Swiss watches, many of which are not easy to find in North America.

I love Dresden. Try to find yourself there for the Christmas markets, a great experience. This isn't the "art" thread but great treasures in Dresden as well (as I'm confident you're aware of!).

Indeed. Speaking of art, I love the juxposition of modern/aggressive/ provocative art against the old world interiors at the restaurant, Kastenmeiers.

We throughly enjoyed numerous seafood dishes there with two stellar bottles of wine.

Bought the Panerai PAM 422 today.

Congratulations! Makes me nostalgic for my 127 which I should never have sold.

It's a watch that screams out for a Metta Catharina strap (the most understated & cool leather in existence).

Rob and TPE, thanks!

Rob, I would buy that strap in a NY minute but so hard to find. Let me know if you know of a source, please. The suede strap that the watch came with will develop its on patina over time.
