Cheese-filled tortellini, salad, '99 Caprai Sagrantino de Montefalco.

Beef tenderloin wrapped 'round asparagus, fontina, and portabellos. No wine. Food was delicious but won't make the no vino mistake again. Meal felt naked.

At Pat's... the original Philly cheesesteak, it's the correct way to order if you want a cheesesteak w/ onions and cheese whiz (the original way). If you want provolone without onions, you'd say "Provolone without". Get it?

Dinner tonight is mainly salmon and carmelized onion risotto (leftover grilled Sockeye from last night), '04 Tohu Sauv Blanc.

Things are settling down with business and I am slowly starting to cook again. Today's stop at Polarica produced a dozen of Muscovy duck legs, a package of six b/o quails, 5 poussins, 2 squabs and a duck, all fresh. I'll do squabs tonight, my cholesterol has been kind of too low lately.

Ahhh ..Hunter it wasn't a colon exam. The doc does the rubber glove thing to feel the prostate. I suspect you have never had this done. It's quite refreshing. NOT!

I've been craving a steak all week. Tonight, grilled (it hasn't rained for over a week here! ) strip loins, Uruguayan free-range beef, with roasted potatoes and grilled asparagus, Ceasar salad, and a bottle of '89 Grand Puy Lacoste.

Well, if that doc had REALLY long fingers you might've gotten a 2-fer. And I think that given the threads flying around here this weekend, it was entirely appropriate for you to share that part of your exam.

A wonderful meal last night at Beckta, one of our local restaurant stars:

-Duck Confit Crêpe with Scallion, Walnuts, Mascarpone, Cape Goose Berry, and Smoked Paprika-Vanilla “Ketchup”

-“AAA” Highriver Beef Tenderloin, chimichurri Basted, Sweet Onion and Yukon Gold Rosti, Roasted Sweet Parsnip, Haricots Verts and Port Macerated Shallot Jus

-a plate of artisanal cheeses, and

-a Valrhona Chocolate Pyramid wiht toasted Hazelnut and Cocoa Butter “Stucco”, White Chocolate Anglaise and Raspberry Coulis

And some nice wines, bien sur!

And tonight: king crab legs!

Tomorrow night - cheese sandwiches, I think....
