We liked the grilled prime dry-aged ribeye so much last night, I bought another one for tonight.

I think Queen of Drive-Through is an apt description of it, but it doesn't quite capture the essence of carrying fast food around with it and eating it 3 or 4 days later. Of course there are many other titles that express that certain quintessential nature of the beast.
Utilizing a one-of-a-kind DeLorean which I acquired at a used car auction a few weeks ago, I was able to travel in time to February 15, 2006, eat a meal, and return to post on this thread.

I enjoyed a pepperoni pizza, with a side salad.

PS: I'm betting my entire net worth tomorrow on the Steelers to win the Superbowl: 35-24. You might (cough cough) want to consider doing likewise.

I checked out the link. If it's true that "At In-N-Out Burger, freshness is everything. That’s why in a world where food is often chemically processed, prepackaged and frozen, In-N-Out makes everything the old fashioned way. Our hamburgers are made from fresh, 100% pure beef. They are free of additives, fillers and preservatives of any kind, and we buy only chucks, the front ribs and shoulder. No other parts are ever used. Our butchers carefully hand-cut and grind the beef in our own facility at which point the patties are shipped directly to our stores in refrigerated trucks by our own drivers. This way we have total control over the production of every burger..." then it's not the worst burger joint to go to.

And with all that saturated fat, sodium, and sugar, they're getting you to those pearly gates that much faster!

True... don't let a little gospel with your grub bother you!
Who cares, really, as long as they don't preach to you at the counter! Big Grin

How about carrying fast food burgers with you when you travel to eat them three days later?

I haven't eaten In-and-Out Burgers as I avoid fast food like the plague, but I have eaten at Taylor's Refresher. How do the two compare?

Don't know, Board-O, but In-n-Out is quite transcendent if you want to eat a true gut-bomb!
Seaquam: Reminds me of the joke about the missionaries who were being cooked by the African tribesmen. Well, one day the chief sits down for dinner, tastes the missionary, and spits out the first bite. He summonses the chef.
The chief: "This missionary tastes terrible."
The chef: "I don't know why. I just boiled him up in the big pot over the fire like I always cook the missionaries."
The chief: "Wait a second. Was this the large rotund missionary, with the brown cloak, the bald spot on his head, and the rope around his waist?"
The chef: "Yes, that's the one."
The Chief: "You idiot----you can't boil him. He's a friar."

You can't really compare the two. One caters to Napa's wine country hole in the wall stop off and grab a 45 dollar for 2 people lunch at a burger stand. And the other is a Southern California staple that is the same as it ever was.

I like Taylors. When up there we always stop. But In-n-Out is anything but "fast food". Next time you come out, you have to try it. You can taste the quality of a Double Double over any other burger joint. Its not fair to call it a fast food burger.

The true irony in it all is that this is the one place that tastes better in the car in the parking lot than anywhere else. They ask you on the speaker, is this for the car or to go. If you get it to go the clock is ticking. You cannot reheat it, you cant revive it, the fries die asap. They are the best ones you will ever have if you eat them right there, but take them more than 2 min in the car and they are going down hill fast.

Another note on In-n-Out. They pay the kids that work there real wages. When I was in highschool minimum wage was 3.25 i think, they paid 6.75 to start. It was on the signs as you waited. Anyone that goes there knows though, those people work hard, its fast moving in that little booth. Its always packed.

Board-O, come out and the Double Double is on me. Smile

To tempt him properly, I think the burger might have to be secondary to the wine. And as everyone knows, the ONLY wine that can match a Double Double is '86 Mouton. Smile

Play your cards right, and you might even get me to join you. And I will gladly pay for my own burger, thank you!

Dining tonight (It sounds so much better than "pie hole stuffing") at a French restaurant in NYC I've been anxious to try. Food is supposed to be excellent. $25 corkage.

Where are you dining? One of the places you said I should go?

After reading all this about In and Out, I went and got myself a burger before doing some barrel tasting. I would have to disagree with WIML about Taylors. I think In and Out is better but I've never been too fond of Taylors. One of the best burgers in the Valley come from a Car Wash near the outlets - Andie's Cafe. DJ Hombre turned me on to this place. Fresh ground meat every morning and a potato bun. Mmmmmm...
Every year at this time, Tourism Vancouver does a promotion with some of the best restaurants in town where the restaurants present a 3-course meal at $35, or at $25 or even $15, depending on the type of restaurant and the cost of a typical meal there. This week we're going to eat at 3 or 4 of them. Because this is the slowest time of year for restaurants, it allows them to keep their staff on and, as well, maybe attract some new business. Each restaurant that we're going to has sold out for the 2 week run, so it's safe to say that this has become very popular.

Tonight we're going to Bacchus Restaurant in the boutique Wedgewood Hotel. We ate there last month and had a really nice evening. It'll be interesting to see what they do with a very limited menu. I like the wine list there as well, though I hate the hotel prices.
