I am new to this forum and would just like to get to say hi to everyone in regards in learning more about wine, any particular wineries they love. Personally, my favorite is the Robert Mondavi in Napa Valley because it's just one of the must visit spots with great tours and selection. My personal favorite part of the experience is that they ended the tour with wine tasting with treats i.e. crackers and cheese that fits perfectly with the type of wine I was drinking. My gosh it was GREAT : )

Welcome to the forum...its a lot of fun (if you have thick skin). Wink

The frist winery I ever visited was Robert Mondavi back in 1992 and it made a big impression on me as well. I've never forgotton it amid the 40+ ones I've seen since then. My wine drinking life was mostly Inglenook up until then and Mondavi wine became a favorite for a long time.

I have not been to Napa for several years now. My favorite wineries are in the Santa Barbara County regions. One of my favorites I go to the most is a small local winery here in the Texas Lake Country...Los Pinos Ranch Vineyards. They do a great job of offering an enjoyable experience each time we go there. It has become a great place to spend time with friends. They have special theamed gormet meal nights once or twice a month and every Thr.-Sat. they offer cheese and meat plates. Their large porch is great for the hot summer evenings.
Actually I use to live in the Santa Barbara CA, but sadly never had the chance to visit that Vineyard. And Hunter thanks for making that link for me Smile I know 40+ ones are just great EagleGrafix, but honestly I am really still an amature in terms of wine and eager to learn more and more about it. Also that Mondavi experience I love is also because of some personal reason I just had one heck of a Date at the time. Nothing beats Wine + Date. I will definately keep Los Pinos Ranch in mind whenever I visit Texas, any good suggestions to vineyards around LA probably none huh.
I'll post directy to the title and ignore the riff-raff in between.

My favorite "Vineyard" is possibly the Pisoni Vineyard in the Santa Lucia Highlands because of its insane fruit and how it defines American Pinot vis-a-vis France.

Another Vineyard that I enjoy visiting and is very beautiful is Burgess Estate, although their wines are not built for the long haul, they are fantastic.

Finally, Black Sears Vineyard for its aggressive wines.

We get a lot of spammers whose first (and only) post is "hey wow I just discovered this great ..."
Your sig doesn't do you any favours.

If you're generally interested in discussing wine you'll be more than welcome.

If you're just here to plug your web site (and if you are I wouldn't bother - the selection and prices suck) you'll hate it here.

As for the question, so far I've never had a bad wine from Garys' or Rosella's vineyards, regardless of who made it.
well i would like to keep the signature here but really i'm just trying to learn more about wine myself. Oh and thanks for the feedback, but I am acutally here just to learn and know more about wine and can acutally distunguish from good or bad. For me I've only been to two wine tours one didn't leave me a lasting impression, I did go to acutually make that 3 i went to Santa barbara Winery but i don't think that counts because all i'm doing there is just for wine tasting.
I am a fan of Kendall-Jackson. They are kind people, and they make good affordable wine.

Not to be too critical Dealess, but you might consider revising your signature, it doesn't match what you are saying in your posts. But, alas, that's why we are all here, is to learn about and talk about wine. You've received a crash course in what I like to call "scathing wine banter" intended to confuse you and make such posters seem mightier then thou. Have fun, and stick it out, so you can harass your own newbs someday.
Oh kendal jackson i've drank those before too and it is great. Natester yeah i will stick it out but must wait till one day when i could acutally know what i'm talking about in terms of wine. So starting from the basic I really can't stand red wines but white wines are ususally my fav. i wonder why we are skewing off the topic now.

Yea I did. But that thick skin forms fast as you find out there are very few real jerks on the form - just a bunch of outspoken opinionated wine snobs that you can learn a great deal from. Plus there is always that "ignore list" if anyone gets too much for you to put up with. Smile

I'd like to visit KJ, they own Cambria in Santa Maria and it is a really pleasant winery to visit in a beautiful location and (when I went) extremely beautiful and friendly people. Smile Smile

To be honest? I carefully suggest you put your website in your profile where anyone can find it. Peddlin' ones wares wears others out. Be Cool, Icognito man...woops my age is showing. Cool
Kendall-Jackson has supported my newsletter project from it's inception before Hurricane Katrina. I am from New Orleans, and had to evacuate to Little Rock, AR. The PR staff stayed in contacr with me and was very supportive and kind. So,my love of their chardonnay has grown with the sincerity of the staff. We love wine because it is good, most of the time and has a life of it's own. I think that's why Jess Jackson is as successful as he is, and that is a taste of the truth.

Try a Pinot Noir, like Leaping Lizard Carneros Pinot Noir or Castle Rock Carneros Pinot Noir for your first attemp at a red.

Not self promotion, just a hobby that I'm proud of. I really think some posters should be more kind in this forum. You turn people off with all the elitness! It's only wine! You all act like it is a federal offense to speak of yourself! Have a drink! And this goes for all haters!

Lorrie - That's awsome acutlaly i don't mind changing my signature here and there but acutally I know there are some pretty good wine experts here that could help me better appreciate the art of drinking wine and how to design a site better suited for the audience. I am really just trying to understand and know more about it that's all. Yeah an I don't hate i just appreciate Smile

Lorrie,

I don’t think that anyone here is a “hater” or is trying to be elitist. What people do not appreciate is the blatant use of Spam for self-promotion or financial gain. For the most part, people are here to discuss wine, or wine related matters, or are discussing other issues in a manner that does not involve self-promotion. If you do not like the manner in which forumites are defending the integrity of the board, I suggest that you write to Robert Taylor and plead your case for a new forum that allows spam and advertising.

I agree with Alta and others who are do defend the purpose of this forum.

It is one thing for a forumite to request recommendation of where to buy/sell or to review the work of others. It is another thing for a post promote one's own venture.

Lorrie and dealess, these comments are intended to help this forum maintain its objectives. I had much the same reaction as you when I started posting after a period of lurking. I learned quickly that it is not personal. We all have business connections - some have to do with wine, others do not but I'd hate to have to wade through the vaious "pithces" if these controls were not in place.

Stick around and contribute....and use the emoticons to clarify your tone. I learned that lesson early too. Smile
