I just tried to buy my favorite $75 Barolo — which I have not tried to buy in the past year and a half. It is now $400. Even back vintages on wine-searcher are hundreds of dollars. I knew what must have happened.

Barolo fans have known about Burlotto Monvigliero for a while.  I believe I have referred to it as one of (if not *the*) best values in “high end” wine on the market on this very board.  The 2013 is probably excellent. But screw AG and his 100.

Hate when that happens

If some schmuck rates a Bernard Levet Le Chavaroche 100 points I think I’ll sue.

2013 Bernard Levet "La Chavaroche" Côte-Rôtie...

A perfect wine!  Subtle, yet forceful.  Seductive, yet powerful.  Fantastic!  100 points...

Come get me, lawyer boy!

I also hate when critics give a very high score to a favored and affordable wine.  But... there are always more wines, n'est ce pas?

It really sucks - even the pricing in Italy is terrible. Burlotto makes some great wines. Love the whole-cluster ferment on the Monvigliero also.
