Do you taste your wine like this?
Nope. I drink for fun. And almost always swallow.
This is a professional sommelier in a tasting competition. Not the same
I have a friend in the business who tastes wine this way, slurping air through the mouth over the wine. He insists it's better than simply smelling first and tasting second. Frankly I find the noise to be unwelcome. If slurping with a drinking straw, or blowing on soup to cool it, is improper etiquette, how is this any better?
I don't drink like that and I don't use a glass that's bigger than my head.
Sucking some air through your mouth is so you aerate it and also get some retronasal things going. OK if you're home alone. If you're at a dinner, it's just rude. If someone does that, put some potatoes or food into your mouth and do the same thing. Then spit it out.

I couldn't get past him looking into your eyes before spitting.
Damn. Videos like this are why 99.999% of humanity thinks wine geeks (most of us) are ridiculous.
