Hello Vancouver forumites!

I'm looking for a recommendation for a dim sum place for Sunday morning before my wife and I fly out. We're planning to check in early at the airport and then find a place within walking distance of a Skytrain stop. So far we've narrowed it down to Top Gun and Sun Sui Wah. Any other recommendations?

Thanks!

Neptune? I remember the name vaguely but can't find it on google map, perhaps they moved to Neptune? Not sure which top gun restaurant you are referring but they are all decent. Apparently there are a lot of Tom Cruise fans in Richmond. Big Grin

Funny, we had just been in the Van's SunSuiWah last night and the food was superb, Although the highlight was still wines. You should had ditched your friends and joined us last night!

I used go to Shiang Garden pretty often, just near Richmond SunSuiWah, good food and I like the grand ceiling. But don't go into the lower floor by accident, unless u want to see out-of-shape baby boomers dancing and singing karaoke!!

We had a very nicely executed meal at West last night. Haven't seen my friends for some time, so it was nice to catch up. My friends don't drink much, but we did share a bottle of Laughing Stock Chardonnay 2008. Not "world class" but a reasonably well made and versatile food wine. Wish I could have been in two places at once, for I would have joined you guys!

I think I am leaning more towards Sun Sui Wah in Richmond. I suspect anything in Richmond will exceed the standards of Edmonton's dim sum places!
Sun Sui Wah in Richmond was very nice. Just my wife and I so we could not sample too much variety. The seven dishes we did try were very well done. Most of the dim sum places in Edmonton wheel the food around in carts, which allows things to get cold especially the pan fried items that don't have the benefit of a lid. Most places I've seen in Vancouver and Toronto have the check-list a la carte method and I think this is much better as the dish arrives piping hot.

My favourite was the steamed shrimp/crab/chinese chive dumpling. Very nicely done. I'm also a Ha-Gow connoisseur, and those were pretty good.

The only detraction was that as we were leaving, we noticed about 3 or 4 dead fish in the live seafood tanks. They'd been dead for a while I think. Nothing I haven't seen in a Chinese restaurant before, but my wife was pretty grossed out.

Next time I'll try Neptune and Top Gun.
