Took you long enough Razz

I let a friend purchase my allocation this year. I logged back in earlier today and noticed a 5pack was still available. I almost pulled the trigger.

Eek Cool

A '47,'48 and '49 tasting in two weeks.

What airport am I flying into?

Bush, Houston.

I will indeed have a stem for you.

Dont tempt me. The 47 Cheval is on my list of wines to try before I die.

Thanks. I was quite pleased to find the Giacosa Falletto at about €70 each. The Rocche was a bit more at just over €100. That got better with the VAT tax refund.

They also had the 2004 Giacosa Rocche Riserva (red label) for €215 (€190 after VAT rebate) which I left on the table. Now I'm kicking myself since I got back without getting nailed for duty.

Oh..and this Champagne shows best paired with food! Enjoy!

Thanks for the advice! I'm quite excited about it. I spent some time reading old reviews of the various Clos de Goisses vintages here on the forums and understand both the need for age and the need for food. It also seems I'll want to let it warm up a bit and evolve in the glass. The '99 is relatively affordable and easy to source, so I thought I'd start with that and, assuming I like it, purchase more for cellaring as well as seek out older vintages. 1990 seems like a good vintage with a little more age that I might be able to find for a somewhat affordable price. Thoughts?

Bella Donna?

Nope. Winetex Razz

Or TBird. Is there a specific orange juice that pairs well with Clos de Goisses, or will any old OJ do? Razz

Given how the right bank did in this vintage, I also got 2 lots of VCC and some St Emilion - Canon La Gaffeliere and Pavie Macquin, for exactly the same reasons as you.

1999 Chateau Mouton - $99 Cool

It's good to see the industrious well rewarded.
Deals like these come by, but one must actively keep a sharp eye to catch them.
Well done, Jack.

Thanks Kevin. I must admit it was more luck than anything else. I stopped in a lws I rarely frequent since I find their prices rather high. I noticed it in the "high end" locked glass case without a price tag. I inquired on a whim since I was pretty much just killing time before I went to lunch with my dad. It took the girl 10 min to get back to me with a price. I watched her and her boss searching in the computer. I am 99% positive they didnt have it in their system and pulled the $99 out of thin air. The funny part was that it was right next to the 2003 and 2005 Mouton, priced at $599 and $899 respectively. I aksed if they had more but it was just the one lonely bottle.

I feel it's time to open one over the Holidays.

Delicious now, tomorrow, and in 20+ years! How many wines can say that? I keep buying so that I can keep drinking them. They say, "You can't have your [Kracher] and [drink] it too," but you can if you keep buying them! Big Grin Wink

Back in the 90's when I was living in Munich, I was just one of the Design team for the Z8 .
A fun project to be a part of and a destined classic, IMHO.
Hope you enjoy your ride, jqm.

A seriously fast car. I thought of ordering it myself but my 3 series is already rather small and a 1 series, even thought it is an M, is probably not a good idea. Im over 6 feet tall.

Not any more, jqm.

While I loved what I did, I wanted to get back to Montreal for years and when the automarket vaporised the end of '08 it took but a heartbeat for me to pack my bags and return here. Spending many years in design, enjoyably, I had the opportunity to work extensively on some great projects (first Viper, Z8, 3-series, 7-series, MB SLK, several Jeep programs, etc). Consulted to most of the OEMs (MB, BMW, Volvo, Ford, GM, Chrysler). But those days began to very quickly change with the new millenium and I soon decided to move over to the project/program management side.

When I moved back to Montreal it wasn't a big switch to flip to the aerospace business.
Now it's planes. Smile

Hero. :nodding:
I didn't buy it. It was a Christmas "gift" from my mother-in-law:

2006 Graceland Cellars Cabernet Sauvignon California "The King".

Nice picture of Elvis on the front, wearing the light blue suit with rhinestone studs on the jacket and huge bell bottoms, forehead leaning on the microphone, all sweaty, as if he put every last ounce of passion into the song he just sang. And his signature in simulated gold leaf across the bottom.

I'm pretty sure she bought it at one of the casinos she frequents. How long should I keep it before I put it up for auction?

Not sure if this warrants an email to the winery to clarify that this was just an old cork used for the 2007.

I see said the blind man. Smile

I just went to check on mine, and they all match.
