Corning Museum of Glass, Corning NY

I would urge anyone venturing to the Finger Lakes region to spend a couple of hours there. Extensive displays of glass art going back to ancient Egypt. There are also quite a few regularly scheduled demonstrations on things such as glass blowing, shaping with heat, etc. Well worth the admission, which I believe was $14 for adults.

Did you see the chess set, where one side are Catholic clergy of various types, and the other side are Jewish ritual figures?
It was made by the guy across the street from me in Baltimore.

Been there several times. I don't remember the chess set, but I recommend a visit- early in the day if possible.

There is also a very good museum of Western Art in Corning. Nice collection of bronzes.

Love the Corning Museum. You can also take a one-day, weekend or week-long course in glassblowing if that holds any appeal. Be warned though, playing with 2,100 degree molten glass can be addictive.

If you're content to let others take that risk, be sure to tour the studios where you can watch the process happening live.
