Looks like FSU will hire Kendal Briles as OC. That feels gross to me. Rather have Mike Sanford and not deal with the baggage.

That being said, I think Briles is probably the best OC in college football. If FSU can pull 3 new oline starters from JUCO/grad transfer, they are a 10 win team next year.

The schedule is certainly favorable for a 10 win season

Bagmen are everywhere. As an Auburn fan you should be familiar. Historically the 3 dirtiest programs in this regard have been Auburn, Clemson and Ole Miss. Im sure SC will back me up.

If you cant see the difference between Richt's classes and the past 3 Smart classes, I dont know what to tell you. Im pretty sure it was last year they signed 10% of the rivals top 150. Thats insane.

Of course FSU bagmen, just not as good as other schools. We dont have the amount of big money boosters other schools have.

UGA is going to get Kair Elam. His dad is straight shopping him. Highest bidder.

Dont get so defensive dude. Every big program has its skeletons. Big time CFB is a dirty, slime ridden business. Read my post, I said in this regard. I was clearly referring solely to the bagman.

Gotta get you back back on block. Guess the server changed cleared my settings. Dont get why you have such a problem with me. Anyway, Merry Christmas .

Clemson losing Dexter Lawrence could be significant. Failing a drug test at this juncture is beyond stupid for many reasons. In addition to losing a chance at a title he stayed in school to win, his draft stock will plummet (if he did this in college he may do it in an NFL playoff setting). Notre Dame may have a better chance than people think.

Most know I stay out of insulting schools. I pretty much have personal knowledge about Clemson (SC is  a small chummy state), but the ironic thing is now they do not have to cheat since they are established. Auburn and Alabama have had that reputation for my lifetime. Ole Miss got it under Freeze. Kirby is another dimension over Richt. Many of his players are out of state and he is getting a disproportionate share of five stars. If he ever becomes a good game day coach, look out.

The recruiting budgets for Alabama and Georgia are over $2.5 million per year. The Gator budget is $1.4 million, so Mullen did ok. Saban has 13 analysts in the office looking at film and contacting recruits, and Kirby learned that from him. As with the facilities arms race, it is getting out of hand. The same teams will continue to win.

Playoff Summary

Well, we got what we all knew was coming from mid-season, something that does not always happen in CFB. The problem is, certain schools have figured out a formula for success and have exploited the system to the max. I will leave the specifics to your imagination.

Game One pitted Notre Dame against Clemson, and it was not even a contest. Before I get into the conventional wisdom, let me say that I have the utmost respect for UND as an educational institution, but that may be the problem. A recent WSJ article detailed their last five or six recruiting classes which ranged from 11th to 18th. I am guessing that ND had to pass on some five star players, or they would not come to ND due to actually be required to take real classes, that the other powers would find a way to admit. Good coaching can take you so far, and at this level, the talent level showed. Clemson was without their best defensive player (Dexter Lawrence), and still held the Irish to their lowest point level in school bowl history.  That is because Clemson has about six other DLs who will play in the NFL. Dabo Swinney knew early on that he needed frosh gunslinger, the long haired lanky Trevor Lawrence to beat Bama so he benched senior Kelly Bryant (who immediately bailed). Lawrence has proven Dabo correct as he both idolizes and resembles Peyton Manning (please Panthers sell your soul to draft him in 2021). Add a stable of great WRS, yes Hunter is still there, and you have a complete team.

Game Two saw OU facing Alabama (the Death Star as CFB talk show host Bill King calls them) in Miami. OU did what they did all year, fall behind early and then score at will in the second half. The problem is that they were playing the Tide and not Texas Tech or Ok St. You have to give the Sooners a lot of props for rallying from a 28-0 hole to make this a game as many teams would have packed it in. While I think that Kyler Murray should indeed play MLB, provided he can hit the breaking ball, he did show that he was a worthy Heisman winner. Tua was fine, given that he received medical treatment generally given to royalty, going 24 for 27, and a perfect 10 for 10 with 4 TDs when blitzed.

Now we get the 4th consecutive playoff matchup between Clemson and Alabama, and the third in the title game. While it will be fun to watch, this is exactly meant by me saying it was boring during the season.
