for me:
port - yes, nice pale ale or nut brown ale - yes.
table wine (red or white)- not really - the cigar seems to overpower the wine.

After dinner last night on the back patio:
Sol Cubano Cuban Cabinet (Churchill) and a glass of 2006 Pacific Rim "Vin De Glaciere"
The cigar was mild and smooth and had a nice peppery-ness that worked well with the sweetness of the wine.

Olivia G short torpedo. This is a great little smoke. I have found all of the Olivia's very consistent and well made.
Had a Bolivar (Habana)--not sure which one, but it was fairly thick, medium short, and had a tapered butt (my official cigar vocabulary is lacking, sorry). This was packed too tight. I had to work all night to get it to draw. The flavors were very nice, clearly the tobacco was the good stuff, just a little too much packed inside the wrapper.

Partagas Serie D No. 4 (Gorgeous smoke!)
A great cigar makes you want to smoke it down until it's burning your finger tips.
This one was just impossible to let go of.
Grand finish to a nice evening.

last weekend I had a Monte Cristo #2 unfortunately my humidor is running at about 50% and it was obviously too dry. Ive rehydrated but should everything work out or are they toast?
You should be OK with at least 4 weeks at the right humidity.
A beautiful evening last night.
Romeo y Julieta Churchill Short
Slightly uneven burn until the last 50%. Wrapper loosened and peeled. Unusual imperfections for this cigar. I prefer the traditional Churchill.
Nonetheless, a very pleasent smoke.

Pinar del Rio Classico Exclusivo. Pretty close to a Churchill cut. Started a little harsh the first 5 minutes but smoothed out nicely and burned pure for 90 minutes. Sweet.
Partagas 1845 Cifuentes y Cia. At least that's what the band says. Nice, robust smoke. Good 2 hour burn.
Rocky Patel Vintage 1999 (torpedo)
Man do I love Connecticut shade wrappers. Enjoyed this with a 2002 d'Armailhac and was very surprised at how well they went together. No conflicting flavors and both the wine and cigar had a nice cedar to them that complimented one another. The wine was decanted for 30 minutes but needed an hour which was fine because just about the time the cigar really stared to smooth out the wine started to sing.

I like to keep some less expensive cigars on hand to have while fishing and to give to people who want a cigar but really don't care what they smoke. This cigar fits the bill perfectly and offers excellent QPR. (Cigars International .com has them for 8/$19.95)
Had one while camping a few weeks ago and again this weekend while sitting in my float tube on the lake and drinking Stella Artois. Only burnt myself once while tying on a new fly.

I enjoyed a Romeo y Juliet #1 Cubano on a hotel patio in Granada, Spain over the weekend. It was a great way to cap off the evening with an inexpensive bottle of Rioja.

I believe this is available as a Dbl Corona (#1), Bellicoso (#2), Robusto (#6), Toro (#9), Sm Corona (#35) and a Torpedo (#40).
Or another? Possibly the 80th Anniversary?

I had the 1926 Serie No. 1 Saturday night with a Glenlivet on the rocks while sitting by the campfire after a hard day of fly fishing.

I wasn't sure if I should start a new thread or not, so I'm posting this here. Cigars International has a killer deal on some cigars. 2 Padilla Series '68 + a 5 pack of your choice from a nice list of cigars. I ordered 3 of these, one with a 5 pack of G.A.R. Robusto Grande (excellent cigar to keep on hand, smooth, full body, with a note of chocolate), one with a 5 pack of Montecristo Media Noche No.3, and one with a 5 pack of Rocky Patel Vintage 1990 Toro. Go into your local cigar shop and see how much those Rocky Patel's cost. It was a tough call between the '90 Toros and the '92 Churchills, but I like the '90s a bit more even though they are a bit smaller. Can't wait to try those Padillas. I'm taking a chance on the Montecristos, but for 5 bucks a stick I think they'll be a safe bet.

Gonna have my lastCohiba Siglo VI at a BBQ on Saturday, if it doesn't rain. But I have a friend coming back from Cuba next week who's gonna bring me 2 boxes...Monte Cristo #2s (torpedos) and #4s, my 'go to' smoke.
Cuban Montecristo #4's are an unbelievably good smoke. Color me jealous if you're getting a box. I have 1 left in my humidor that I'm saving for a special occasion.

LOVE the Siglo VI.
Have you tried the Cohiba Sublime L-E, Mezzo?
If not, it's a must-try. Simply BEAUTIFUL....IMHO.

Found a Padron 1964 Anniversario Maduro here in Montreal ($69!!!

I inquired about the 1926 and they said that they're so much cheaper in the States that they don't bother bringing it in.
I've found some in the States but will need to ship them to a U.S. address for pick-up.
Maybe Chicago....

Sounds like a plan to me!

OK so it's not a cigar but....last night I had my first taste of Dunhill Three Year Matured Virginia in my pipe. Holy cow was this stuff good. If you smoke a pipe, I recommend you get your hands on some of this stuff.
