Tatuaje Fed 90 Rosado
Heading to Cuba in a couple of weeks. Any recommendations on cigars to seek out? My most memorable cigar to date was a Montecristo no. 2 that was fantastic.
Anything with age...look under the box and see what the date is...2008's are wonderful right now and anything older than that is worth a shot!
Try and find the Cohiba Behike or any Regional releases/Limited editions would also be worthy of a buy.
Good luck and report back.

With my buddy Matt at the shop this afternoon we enjoyed a Tatuaje La Verite 2008 Churchill....these are smoking very well right now...much better than 1 yr ago!
Cohiba Genios Maduro 5. My least favorite of 3 smoked so far. A little tight, and canoed a skosh at the half mile mark. Recovered nicely with a little nursing. Still a wonderful cigar even with the construction issue on this one. Love these. Very rich, dark flavors. Chocolately, cedary spicey yumminess.

Havent had the one I...ahem ahem....won PH....but Stickman gave me one a few months back and it is a delightful smoke. Chocolate and cedar is a terrific description. Mine also burnt a bit crooked but the flavors and balance of the stick quickly distracted me.

What causes this?
Couple of factors may play a roll W+A...#1 would be roller error. Humidity/Storage is a far 2nd. Probably #3 is consumer error...way the cigar is smoked or perhaps lit.

Serious question. The way smoked or lit.
Elaborate, please.
Sure...one may smoke the cigar too fast, puff too hard or not hard enough which in turn may make the burn uneven.
If the cigar is not lit properly, torched the end completely or lit and puff completely, then the cigar will most certainly start off uneven.
Hope that makes sense? If not..I can elaborate more in person in 6wks.

I'm struck by the parallels between smoking a cigar and making love to a beautiful woman. One must know ones partner and be able to adjust to the moment. Sometimes hot and fast is the move. Sometimes a gentle beginning, a gradual fanning of the flame and a slow and attentive focus gets the job done.
Sometimes, it just ain't worth the effort, regardless......

Liga Privada Feral Pig: not the most elegant name, but a rather sophisticated smoke IMHO. Far more nuanced than the #9 or T52 Flying Pig, rather impressive for a 60 ring gauge. Wonderful sweet pepper to start, some standard leather and 'tobacco' in the middle, and a nice smore-like finish, with char, graham cracker, and chocolate. One caveat: this needs to be smoked where there is ample ventilation, as it never stops smoking, even when at rest.
I found it to be a milder blend then the regular #9...flavorful for sure...not sure I like it as much however.

By #9, do you mean the #9 Flying Pig, or the regular series #9? I agree that it's not as good as a #9 Robusto/Toro (haven't tried the Corona Doble), but I think it's better than the #9 Flying Pig.
Flying Pig sucks, pardon my fench! I was referring to the regular #9.
I found the ferral to be a mild/medium bodied smoke...not bad...not box worthy IMO.
Smoked a BHK 54 yesterday at the shop...just wonderful, these are getting better and better.

Seems I have a box coming to me from a collegue via his family arriving (visiting) from Lebanon.
Price is lower than purchasing in Cuba (just slightly) which I found surprising but he says this is quite common. Greatly looking forward to the arrival of said box.

Very cool KSC..but please be sure to check it carefully...this cigar is being duplicated often of late. Feel free to email me any questions once you receive the box and here's to it being legit!!

I will surely be emailing you, marcb, to ensure their authenticity. What, specifically, shall I be looking for with this box? I know what to look for in general with Cuban cigars but some cigars have specific things that show up to reveal themselves.
That said, I highly trust the integrety of this source and what he says. However one can never be too careful. Thoughts?
Where exactly was it purchased? LCDH in Lebanon?
There are several things to look at KSC. Whats scary is that the bands are real, the box is real, but the cigars are not. I would need a few specific pictures which we can discuss privately when the time comes.
I have no doubt they are legit if your friend says they are....I just hate to see anyone get "taken" thats my only concern my friend.

Yes. I would have never, ever, considered it otherwise.
Oh...my bad...you are about 99% all set then KSC..sorry about that.

We will speak soon. Your input is much appreciated, marcb.
My pleasure as always.

I'm not nervous about this considering the source. But...that said...we will compare notes

Okay, okay. Easy there; you don't have to use your fench.

Yup...I was a little fired up I guess Stickman! Sorry about that..A lot of people love the Feral Pig up here. It has a nice blend but its just not bold enough for me...but you know what I smoke routinely so thats part of the reason to. Dont worry....Ive been in the minority on some cigars in the past.
In regards to the "flying" pig...its a frickin mess..I have had 3 of each and all 6 of them burnt terrible, draw was aweful, threw a bunch of smoke like a damn bonfire and the flavors were out of balance. But that is IMHO

After a stellar day...a Partagas Short and a dram of Macallan 12. Not my best cigar and not my best whisky, but the combination is working very well.

Well done! Sounds like a perfect fit to me

Last night on the Riverwalk in San Antonio, Montecristo #2 Habana.
*Padron Anniversario Serie 1926 #1 Natural. The Padron 1926s have never disappointed me. $15-20 a stick but worth every penny.
*The Hoyo de Monterrey Excalibur is also an excellent smoke.
*If you want to try something you'll never forget, try the La Flor Dominicana Double Ligero Chisel Maduro. It's best to eat a big steak dinner before smoking this one...The natural version is powerful, but the Maduro is sneaky strong—you don't feel the power until it's upon you...definitely not a beginner's cigar.
*FWIW, I have started putting Padron, Punch, HdM, and other top-shelf rings on cheap $1 (and less) cigars and leaving them where my buddies can see them, and keeping my stash in my closet. 95% of them don't know a Padron from a Thompson anyway so why waste good cigars?

How about find a better group of friends to smoke good cigars with? Why try to impress guys like that? Why give a sh*t? I don't get it...

Tyler, either you need new friends, a new attitude or you're trolling.
Tyler, let's get serious for a moment.
Are you a Sooner fan, or a fan of the redheaded stepchildren from Stillwater?

LOL! You guys are ruthless.....please take it easy on me in LV..I bruise easily
I actually think Tyler is very "new: to posting and I also think he is new to wine, not sure about cigars. I dont think he is trolling anyways...but I have been wrong before.
Tyler, basically the majority of the people on this board are extremely generous and if "we" consider someone a friend we will expose that person to the very best and not try to dupe them...I think thats what we are getting at here.
Plus if it wasnt for that generosity...I would never know how good wine and cigars taste like because Id still be drinking yellow tail and smoking philly blunts
KSC...hows Vegas looking now? Get on a damn plane!
